When will they realize people would not buy the cds? They just get music because it's free, not because they wanted to buy it and finally decided they'd better steal it... or worse, download it, burn it and sell the copies.

And now, they strike a 12 year old? What the flying fuck? Hey, money makers, produce real artists, lower the price of your cds and stop pretending your business is collapsing: some of us can actually read financial reports.

Bullshit! This girl is coming from a family who paid money for regular Kazaa.

Oh, and almost all of the MP3s on my computer were ripped from CDs that I purchased and own. However, usually I will get a couple MP3s from an artist, and if I like the songs, I will buy their CD.

I am sick of people and their arguments for not buying CDs. If you like an artist's music, support the artist so that they can make more music for you.

the days of record sales is over. its the sign of the times and technology. ironicaly the world is slowly becoming more socialist due to the internet and such technologies. freedom of information is the future. i see profit more in concerts, art, shirts, and in some services like raphsody (we sell it at work)

My belief is that the methods they used to track the people's file-sharing habits fall under HACKING, which, if I'm not mistaken, is considered an act of TERRORISM under the Patriot Act. Woohoo, looks like the Patriot Act finally comes through for the little guy. :P

Find a lawyer who can convince a court that the RIAA's evidence was obtained illegally and you WILL be FULLY IMMUNE in a US court. Perhaps you can even counter-sue RIAA for hacking you.

That is, if they're counting non-independent stuff, like stuff from artists that allow downloading of their MP3's right from their official website or MP3's you encode yourself of sound/music that you created yourself.
