8-player doom

A little doom 2 question.
My version of doom 2 allows only to play with 4 players over my ipx network..
How can i play the simple,no jumping, no nonsense doom2 with 8 players

By using a source port like ZDoom.

To elaborate: vanilla Doom2 only allows for 4 players. You'll need to use a source port (Legacy, ZDoom, maybe others) to play with more than four players.

Use Zdaemon or Skulltag for playing online with +16players (iirc).

Use Doom Connector for chat with players before playing a game, DC both support Zdaemon, skulltag and various other sourceports (legacy, etc...).

But remember to edit the options to disable jumping, enable vanilla features etc.

Yeah, it gets rid of stupid features like jumping, mouselook, player names, the scoreboard, customizeable player colors, skins, bots, icons, medals, the console... all those STUPID features!

I've never tried this, but what happens if there's more than 4 players?

IIRC, you get a "server is full"

The point of the question was to get 8 players. skulltag -oldschool fails at answering the question in that regard.
