well, im using DB to make a map, and i have just put in 2 hours of work, and i got a runtime error. Is there a way i can save without losing everything up to this point?

Doubt it. I've gotten those before.

I'm still using DeePsea at least until DoomBuilder is a bit more stable.

What caused the crash? So far, it has only crashed on me when I've done something stupid (like mistyping an entry my project's game description file or trying an action with nothing selected).

I really like DB though, texturing has never been easier. I've yet to try out the prefab stuff, but so far it's probably the best editor I've come across.

Heh, I never did get around to trying out Doom Builder. I may give it a go sometime in the near future, but for now, Deepsea is my editor of choice.
