exactly what i don't like about doom2. the ssg is great in dm but way overpowered in sp, mostly because it's a) powerful b) fairly versatile c) easy to find ammo for. which is why i usually stick to doom mapping.

Depends on the specifics, but if you've got a bit of room to manoeuvre, rockets are often good.
AV29: BFG
HR22: rockets
HR24: a bit of each
Scythe map26: BFG
H2H-Xmas map12: rockets

Didn't see it cuz I didn't look that hard but the number 1 strategy when ur trying 2 kill hordes is to STRAFE.

Heh, i completed DSV without strafing, in fact i almost never use strafe, just the direction buttons, run, shoot and action when its needed XD

Revenants have a lower "pain tolerance" than you might think; start ripping into him with a chaingun (or a chainsaw, if you're good/lucky/crazy) and he can't move, much less shoot back.
