Yet another Matrix Revolutions thread... (SPOILER!!!)

Recommended Posts

Okay, before I get the thread going I wanna say that I don't want anyone posting about how you think it sucks. If you don't like these movies then don't post in a thread about them. And I personally think that if anyone hates these movies they must be either mentally retarded, have something very large and pointy up their assholes, or both. So if you have a problem with one of the greatest cenimatic trilogies ever made, rant about it in some other thread and don't waste the time of the intelligent people on the forums who have the common sense to like it, even if only moderately.

Now let's get down to business. I have a few questions that some other people here can probably help me answer:

1.How exactly did Agent Smith die (i.e. explode right after absorbing Neo)? I think I have a resonably good idea, but I'm not exactly sure.

2.What state do you think Neo was in at the end? Perfectly fine, barely alive, dead, in a coma again, whatever.

3.When The Oracle asked about "those who wanted to be free", was she talking about the people in the matrix, the other programs who want to be free inside the matrix, or both? My friend, who saw it with me, said she couldn't have been talking about the people because they weren't even aware they were in a matrix, but I disagreed, saying that after seeing so many bizzare, "impossible" things, they would probably start to suspect something, and they might be aware of their imprisonment on some small, subconscious level anyway.

4.What was the most major flaw? This relates to any one of the three movies, or all of them if you want.

How was Neo able to destroy the sentinels? How is he able to "see" after he is blinded? How can Agent Smith enter the "real world"?

1. Agent Smith injected himself into Neo, who was attached to the big computer, which was then able to send some sort of destruction sequence (sort of like anti-virus) causing it to replicate across all infected programs with the virus erradicating it.

2. Neo is dead. They took him away. The purpose was that he was to sacrifice himself so that the people of Zion could be left in peace.

3. There were others who knew something was different (before any seeing any sort of super bizarre out of place stuff), or that the free peoples were trying to set free in the first place. I suppose also people that saw this stuff may then question reality, but it's hard to say.

4. This one will take a bit of time and I'll have to get back to it.

The answers to these questions would be nice to know...

I have no objection with your answer to 1 or 3, so thanks. But for your answer to 2, I didn't think he was dead because it showed him see his wierd golden vision of one of those machines after he fell to the ground, and if you look really closely you can see his chest moving up and down (sign of breathing).

Fraggle, what I thought is that the reason he can do things to the sentinels is because he's growing some link with the machines, and what he's seeing is the machines' wierd electrical signal.

Oh, and Julian: why the fuck were you looking in a thread about a movie you "DIDN'T FUCKING SEE" yet? That's just common sence there.

Or bad acting/editing.

Saw my CUSTOM TITLE? What do you think "in charge" means? Btw, I'd suggest you cool down on your pretentious and I-m-the-owner-of-this-place-attitude, it is slowly, but surely, beginning to piss me off.
Oh, and learn to spell too.

Dude I was perfectly calm. The only thing I put in caps was the thing I quoted from you. I know how to spell, and while on that I'd also like to say that just because you're in charge doesn't mean you should feel free to insult people that don't deserve it. Also I definately don't think I'm all important, respected, or the owner here because several posts of mine have been post helled and quite a few people don't even remember who I am. Not that I have a problem with that. My main point is that I wasn't trying to start anything with you, and any discussion about a movie you haven't seen will probably give something away. I've had several bad experiences with that myself. There are still many things that haven't been spoiled for you, and if you liked the previous two Matrix films you will almost definately like the third.

But sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think you didn't understand what I meant, so I'll try to make it clear: being in charge is not an excuse to bark at users, it's an obligation to open posts, especially when they're made by users known to get theirs post helled (something you should take less lightly - it's a warning).

Anyway, it's a good practice to put 'SPOILER' in a title when you know there'll be ones inside. Good practice as in respectful for others. The attitude consisting in mocking people because they complain about spoilers in a non-spoiler-tagged thread is everything but respectful.

Okay then. I'll put a spoiler tag from now on. Just out of curiosity, how many post helled threads will get you punished or banned?

There's no strict rule, but using your common sense a little should prevent your threads from being post-helled and, hence, drive less attention onto you. ;)

More than enough to have kept me here :-P

I got a question that doesn't pertain to the movies but the whole idea of the matrix. How the hell do the humans reproduce when they're in those containers filled with 'jello'? I know in the first one it was said that "anything that happens to you in the matrix is real because your mind makes it real" but I don't think that would be possible to have a kid with someone and have traits from both gene pools in the kid without an exchange of sex cells.

Also obviously a real kid has to be born and a program can't be created for one because then the machines would sooner or later run out of people to take energy from. This leads to the question of how and when the new born kid gets plugged into the matrix and why the kid doesn't remember being in the in the real world before getting plugged in. I can't say I remember the day I was born but I'm sure the machines wouldn't take the risk of having someone actually remember.

Neo had some hardware from the machines in his neck and under his skull, which apparently allowed him to communicate with the machine world.

Is that going to be in the extended edition directors cut restored dolby digital surround sound foo bar baz DVD or some such nonsense or did someone pull it out of their arse?

1. Agent Smith and Neo are opposites, so when they combined, they wiped each other out.

2. IMO Neo's body was gone, but his mind and soul still remained.

I see The Matrix trilogy as an allegory of the bible stories, whereas Neo is considered Jesus, Zion heaven, and the Matrix world Hell to an extent. Neo dies, then resurrected and brings salvation upon the Matrix world, I.E. Judgement Day. The machines could be seen as Satan's minions, but that throws off the ending a bit.

NXN: We are grown, as Morpheus says in the first Matrix.

Oh my god! These concepts are all to deep for me! And so profound I might add!

Were you paying attention during Reloaded ? Agent Smith has the ability to infect other programs (he's a virus, see), and since programs are apparently compatible with the minds of people plugged into the Matrix, he can also take over whoever's plugged in. Since Bane was plugged into the Matrix AND making a connection with the real world, Agent Smith taking over his mind allowed him to slip into the real world in the form of Bane. Y'know, for the kids !

I don't have the DVD version so I can't check. It just seemed logical to me. Neo got a socket in his neck that is connected directly to his brain. It's machine technology. It wouldn't surprise me if he's using this piece of hardware to intercept communications broadcasted by the machines.

Kind of like using a pringles tin to listen to corporate networks?

yes, neo is like god. is just that neo can do anything. and yes he dies. agent smith dies. but like the architect said, its a never ending cycle. so it will happen again. also, artificial incemination (sp?) wouldnt be too hard for the machines to figure out since they figured out how to harvest us. god forbid think people.

They'd have DNA samples of each pod-person, they could do the splicing electronically and just grow a child without having to transport salty yoghurt everywhere. Pregnancy could be an illusion.

god forbid think people.

Yeah lets write our own damn movie rather than get to watch one we paid for.

Here's a thing that caught my eye: in the scene where someone is holding a scalpel to trinity's neck: some of those shots had her neck cut, others had her neck clean. It was really eye-catching for me.

It's not what I meant, I was getting at the fact that people in the matrix fuck and have kids. So the actual two people outside of the matrix would need to have a physical exchange of sex cells. Meaning the machines would need to find these exact two people and take the sperm and egg cells from them.

If all this needs to be done doesn't it seem like most of the energy they get from us would be to keep us alive?

1. The destruction of Neo balanced out the anomalous equation because if you remember, someone (think it was The Oracle) said Smith was Neo's opposite - the one trying to balance out the anomaly.

2. He was dead you tit! That was the whole point. Basically, they made him out to be The Second Coming. That was the only thing I didn't like about the film, being a Wiccan and not believing the shit about Jesus in the first place.

3. Don't know that one, but thinking about it, she probably meant both.

4. There weren't any, really. Not major ones.

edit: Princess Shanobi saw it again last night and she said she noticed The Oracle put on the same bracelet twice in one scene and the blood kept disappearing and reappearing when Bane had a blade to Trinity's throat.

1. i concur: neo and smith are opposites: one/many and otherwise good/bad

2. dead. the gold visual bit was a play on "entering the light"

3. people in the matrix who had a sneaky suspicion something dodgy was going on... it's entirely possible under their new peace agreement that the machines had informed everyone.

4. the french chick didnt get neked

5. babies: a new baby is plugged into the program and the birth in the prgram coencides (wahey: sperm is some kind of program thing), you're making the rash assumption that people in the real world look identical to their matrix selfs, only some minor tweaking would give a kid the impression of "daddy's eyes"

6. neo's ability to transmit/recieve in the real world: just like the prongle tin thing, yup. incidentally i've used those pringle tine things and they really do work we once had porn streaming onto a laptop in a carpark through one!

7. editing/continuity: it's generally quite bad in both M:R films

8. agent smith->bane: clearly if you have a problem with this part of the story, and hell probably even the neo/pringle tin part then you really have something wrong with your brain. you mean you cant accept this as part of a magical future story but you're perfectly willing to believe:

8.1. AI machines growing human beings on big trees
8.2. plugging them physically into a big computer
8.3. generating a seamless VR construct and encoding it into a fashion the cerebral cortex will believe to be real
8.4. adding further ports and plugs to extract bioelectrisity
8.5. that cakes can give you orgasms

ergo: just turn your damned brain off when you watch them!

Any shitty movie might appear decent if you do that. Invalid.
