Textures

I've never actualy done anything with textures, and never actualy thought about them before, but can anyone link me to some kind of tutorial or something. I want to know how big I should make them, what format they should be, and how to put them together into a .wad. I know it has something to do with WinTex, but that program doesnt make much sense to me.

There is a very general overview of resource editing in the Tutorials section of DooM Nexus. The page also has links to other tutorials and editing utilities. XWE and DeepSea are both very good for inserting & manipulating graphics in a wad.

I say this question is beginning to bug me! There seems to be at least one a weak.
