ellmo Posted December 24, 2003 Are there any Good Doom/ the Ultimate Doom megawads out there in the net? (except 2002ado, which I have finished few days ago). Any projects without custom sounds, items and monsters, but just megawads with decent mapping, fine music and no bugs? Itried to find them on my own, but there seemed to be only three in the archive, and two of 'em were TC's... please help! I'm in desperate need of some good Doom 1 play! 0 Share this post Link to post

DooMBoy Posted December 25, 2003 Searcher, are you sure there's a Class_ep2? I ask because I did a DoomSearch on it and it turned up no results. :( I hope it is what I think it is - a sequel to the very well done Classic Episode. :) If anyone has a link to it, feel free to post it. 0 Share this post Link to post

I would bet money that he is referring to the second release of the best Doom1 release ever: Class_ep. the one on the archives is the new version, IIRC. Great list, Searcher! I'd add e1contest, inf-lutz, and nhfl... probably a few others, that's all I can think of off the top of my head. 0 Share this post Link to post
Vile Posted December 25, 2003 All fine choices by Searcher; I'd also add redemption (episode for zdoom), No Hope For Life EP1 (nhflep1), and inf-lutz. I see they've already been covered for the most part. The only upcoming udoom projects i'm aware of are Flashback and nhflep2. 0 Share this post Link to post

Little Faith Posted December 25, 2003 Check out the oldschool Bak2hell.wad Good stuff. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted December 25, 2003 Don't forget Industrial Techware Doom. It's listed as a pr0n wad, but there is just one room with crappy pr0n (in E1M7). Otherwise it's all perfectly normal stuff. Also mud3. They're both single episodes, rather than full megawads, BTW. Of course, there are very few Doom 1 megawads. 0 Share this post Link to post
Aleaver Posted December 25, 2003 WoW I am glad to see that some people still talk about NHFL! No EP II will not be udoom. I don't even know what that is. 0 Share this post Link to post
Draconio Posted December 25, 2003 I don't think anyone mentioned Vengeance yet. Requires Boom-compatible port. 0 Share this post Link to post

I have it on my system that way. the wad is dated Aug. 31, 02. Zip is 450 K. I remember it took me a full day to find it. The map inside the zip file is just named class_ep.wad. I am not sure if I renamed to not overwrite my existing file of if it came that way. It is infact an updated class_ep. From the change log inside the zip: A general overview of The Classic Episode version 2.0 changes. Opulent Posted December 25, 2003 Searcher, that is my doing, I think. http://www.3ddownloads.com/doomworld/sda/wad/b-c in short, ellmo's probably already got it. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

I have had many many failures at 3ddownloads and am really hesitant to even go there anymore. After sitting in que for an hour or more I get fail to download and thrown back to the end of the que again. I just don't like sitting for hours to get a 50 or 100 kb file or whatever, it should only take a few seconds to get it. I used to enjoys my trips over there but not so much these days. I know they serve the purpose and until I can cough up a doom server I should keep my trap closed. Anyway enough of my whining, it is still Christmas afterall in Colorado. Kid Airbag mentioned Vengeance, picking it up as we speak. That looks like an allstar team that made it ;) Some very familiar names from the community. 0 Share this post Link to post

I was under the impression that Paul Flechute made the entire megawad pretty much on his own (based on his previous megawad PSFDoom, only much, much, much, improved). 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted December 26, 2003 The 1st edition of the Classic Episode is also on Compet-n. Naturally, since that is the version used for the demos there. 0 Share this post Link to post

Yes, it says in the text file that Paul himself made pretty much all of the megawad with some new levels made by his brother. 0 Share this post Link to post

Yep, my bad, I meant the "Vengeance" textfile credits looked very impressive, an "all-star team". The map set looks very cool too. And oops sorry, I mis-quoted, it was Draconio that orig. mentioned the mapset. 0 Share this post Link to post
ellmo Posted December 26, 2003 I've just finished Retro Episode one... so now downloading Vengeance... since it's using Boom features I'm looking forward to see astonishing project... 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted December 26, 2003 I can't believe no one has mentioned Invasion yet. Go get it, it's well worth it. 0 Share this post Link to post

Well, these are in 3 separate files but stick them together and you have a megawad: Infinity/Eternity/Serenity Epi1best/Epi2best/Epi3best (btw, replace the first map in epi1best, as it's unplayable. Atrium.wad is what I replace it with) 0 Share this post Link to post
