SNES music

Recommended Posts

Nobody remixed it. It's exactly the same except for the drums in some maps not being quite as fast as the original, but that's another issue entirely. What I mean is since the SNES's 3 CPU's are so goddamn slow, (even together they equal 12 MHz) that they can't keep up with it's own MIDI system. The SNES is an inefficient piece of shit anyway, so why bother?

You see, that's also why the SNES Doom is (more or less) a slightly enhanced Wolfenstein 3D. You know, what with no floor/ceiling textures, the weapon being shown in a little box under the keys...etc.
I won't go too deeply into that since it's off topic, though. Am I the first one to notice this, by the way? I thought it was pretty obvious...

yes. Snes doom were a pretty bad port of doom. But that don't give you right to bash off the snes. Imo, snes were the one of the last good consoles, before everything became like "OMG GOOD GRAPHICX = GOOD GAMEZ0R. BIG MONEY CAUSE ALL THE KIDDIES WILL BUY IT, NO NEED TO MAKE GOOD GAMEPLAY!".

I was talking about the 12 MHz part...
Doom was made to run on a 66 MHz PC!
I mean, that's just insane. I never
knew it could be done.

I found a Doom 3 Screenshot !

I find alot of the snes' music to be at least on par with the pc version...some sound better IMO. (Such as "The Demons From Adrian's Pen" aka E2M2)

As for the game itself, I really don't think it's is as crappy as most people think. I mean when you think about the system it's running on (which is what...less powerfull than a 286? :P), it's actually pretty impressive (or at least i think so).

Then again, it was the first version of Doom i ever played...so maybe it senitimental. heh.

I used to rent it fairly often, but just yesterday i actually bought it...for ten bucks.

Believe it or not, when DOOM came out for SNES, it had the most faithful-to-pc music of any port.

I haven't played the GBA version, so I can't speak for it, but to my knowledge, DOOM for SNES still has the most faithful music of all the various console ports.
