Disorder Posted January 9, 2004 Relax RIAA, it's just music! Music, not RPG's, M16's or homemade explosive devices, just music. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted January 9, 2004 JEEZ FUCK. If these guys ever rush me, I will claim in the end that my actions were in self-defense. I mean, a bunch of guys run at you, and you know you aren't doing anything wrong, so they must be attacking, right? If they aren't REAL law enforcement, I figure you're within your right to defend. 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted January 9, 2004 What's the betting more corporations get their own police force in the future? In fact I'm suprised Microsoft hasn't already :| Damn, looks like we've just taken then another step towards all those sci-fi films where governments are replaced with corporations (e.g. Robocop) coming true... 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted January 9, 2004 Nah, that would hurt their business; they'd rather just nudge and influence the authorities. The RIAA is just becoming paranoid since the tech conditions are killing the record labels' monopoly over the distribution of music recordings. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think the corporations already have their own police force...isn't that what the White House is these days? But yeah, I've always said that the dark future is getting closer. NiGHTMARE said:No-one's said it yet, so I will... "OMG it's teh warez police!!!!111 (sort of)" Not required of course, at least while we have those warez-seeking missiles... (ps: why is 'show sig' always off by default now?) 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted January 9, 2004 Two things came to mind when I read that. The first was Escape from LA for some reason, and then the episode of the Simpsons where Homer tries to start a computer business out of his home and Microsoft comes and takes him over. Something really is wrong with the RIAA if they're getting to be like this. I'm already starting to wonder when they'll start kicking down the doors of peoples' homes just because they burnt a CD. Cyberpunk really is starting to settle in, it seems. Or at least dipping its toes in the water. 0 Share this post Link to post

But I also download music 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted January 9, 2004 I download music, but I always buy the albums (or delete the album I downloaded if it sucks). 0 Share this post Link to post
Quast Posted January 9, 2004 the RIAA has over the last 18 months built up a national staff of ex-cops to crack down on people making and selling illegal CDs in the hood. bahahahaha....oh damn!...can't...stop...laughing anyway, if you stop breaking the law, you have nothing to worry about. Simple. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted January 10, 2004 Wow, I just like predicted that the RIAA will organize some sort of police force back in September! Shit, I bet this "secret police" work the same way as the Gestapo! They'll persecute everyone who downloads warez! They'll probably be picking off random "suspicious-looking" people and have them beaten and tortured! ...Farfetched, aint it? Heh, it would be funny (in that crazy assed way) if it wasn't far from the truth with the RIAA Police force. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sephiroth Posted January 10, 2004 Ralphis said:Why is disney the face of evil? Disney is prehaps more ruthless than 10 microsofts and RIAA. Disney has their hands in alot of stuff you dont know about. the man him self was also rather twisted. he was paraniod and hated jews and blacks. prior to WW II, he like many high up business people, supported hitler's views. however he didnt support them to the extent that say Henry Ford did, and he didnt have factories in germany (also like ford) though alot of rumors u hear are fairly bogus there are some really bad things that have gone on. porn smuggling, if u could call it that, had been a major problem at disney theme parks. people would film in the dressing rooms and bed rooms. one incendent the park officials knew yet did nothing for 6 months. Also just like microsoft they have done everything to milk everything for every penny they possibly could. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted January 10, 2004 "A large percentage [of the vendors] are of a Hispanic nature," Langley said. "Today he’s Jose Rodriguez, tomorrow he’s Raul something or other, and tomorrow after that he’s something else. These people change their identity all the time. A picture’s worth a thousand words." He might as well have said "I hate those fucking wetbacks". Would have come out the same in the end. 0 Share this post Link to post
