problems using windows media player

Problem 1)

When I select with wmp a divx file and try to play it, image turns off at the end. However, if

I click over the file using windows explorer and open it with wmp, the file plays fine.


Problem 2)

Some mpg files played with wmp look compressed horizontally, but look perfect in nero player and some other media players.

I've already tried all of the following (after this problem started):

installing divx
installing tsunami
reinstalling windows media player 9
installing windows media codecs
using windows upgrade
using system restore

Does anyone know how to fix this?
If I use other players all the files play fine. But I want to use wmp.

What is fddshow? A different player?

Fddshow is indeed a different player. From what I've heard it's more stable and much smaller than Microsoft's "OMG OMG BY THS ALBUM LISTEN TO DIS LOLOLZZZ" media player.

It's actually a codec, which the programs use to show and or play media

I haven't had any stability problems with WMP...yet.

I use Winamp 2.91(tm)
