sargebaldy Posted February 3, 2004 It's based in California, but I know Oregon and Washington have them at least. I think I remember hearing New Mexico did too, so it's probably an overall western phenomenon. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted February 3, 2004 There have been Safeways on the east coast a long time ago (there was one just a few miles away), but they were all closed down. They're mostly Food Lions now. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 3, 2004 We don't have Food Lion here :P The main places around where I live are Safeway and Fred Meyer's, although my favorite place is WinCo (short for Winning Company :P) by far, the only place on earth that sells makeup in the same aisle as candy, and has a full aisle devoted to beans. It's employee-run, no management, and you bag your own groceries. Everything is insanely cheap (~20% less than any competitors), but even if it weren't the place would still be awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
GoldEyes Posted February 3, 2004 We don't have Safeways here either. Kroger is the supermarket chain that sells Krispy Kremes here. I perfer them from the actual Krispy Kreme restaraunt though. However there is only one in this city that I know of and it's a good 30 minutes away. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 3, 2004 I didn't realize you could buy Krispy Kremes in any supermarket O_o 0 Share this post Link to post
GoldEyes Posted February 3, 2004 Yep. Kroger used to make their own doughnuts and what not in their bakery. Now they sell Krispy Kremes in the bakery. This started about 8 years ago now? I worked for them in high school when I was 16 and that's when the Krispy Kremes showed up, right off the truck. Can I have some fresh ones, please? That's why I rather goto the actual Krispy Kreme place, but it's so far away for a doughnut. We don't have any dunkin doughnuts around here either. I was so spoiled by having one on every corner when I lived in New England. 0 Share this post Link to post
Tobester Posted February 3, 2004 GoldEyes said:Yep. Kroger used to make their own doughnuts and what not in their bakery. They still do, here. There used to be three places to get Krispy Kremes here; A Krispy Kreme store, a gas station nearby sold them, and a nearby UDF had them. Now, afaik, the Krispy Kreme store was shut down due to excessive break-ins and the gas station went under. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 3, 2004 Closest place to get Krispy Kremes to me is 75 miles away in Portland (and that one only just opened a year ago). 0 Share this post Link to post
Tieowbeijas Posted February 3, 2004 The closest McDonald is two miles away(yay). What we have in the town I live in is a "Sibylla", they make great hamburgers :D 0 Share this post Link to post
999cop Posted February 3, 2004 Yeah, Krogers and Publixes are huge in the East, and there're Luckys and Safeways over in Western areas 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 3, 2004 I've never heard of Lucky's and I live on the west coast. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ed Posted February 3, 2004 Job said:No. Krispy Kreme. Read it and weep with joy. Ugh, someone at work was bragging how there was one in Newport near his house. He brang in some of their donuts that are apparently the best in the country.. they're about the size of Little Debbie donuts, super compressed doey nuggets of fat and grease. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted February 4, 2004 there was/is a safeway around here somewhere. or i may be thinking of my grandparent's 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted February 4, 2004 I could have sworn Safeways were a nationwide thing, considering they are the predominant supermarket around here. Other than that, all we have is a (mall sized) Fred Meyer, a few Red Apples, a bunch of Albertsons, and a QFC or two. But yeah. Safeway makes all of it's donuts fresh in the bakery they have in the back. The local one, before it went through its reconstruction, used to have a window where you could watch people make stuff in the bakery. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
IMJack Posted February 4, 2004 One McDonalds about three miles east of here, and two about two miles north, within sight distance of each other. One stands alone, the other is built into a Wal-Mart.Psyonisis said:What the hell is a Safeway? They own & operate a lot of US grocery chains. Tom Thumb is a Safeway joint. 0 Share this post Link to post
Captain Red Posted February 4, 2004 We have two McDonalds within 300 yards of each other here... well ok there is one inside a mall and one over the rode from the mall, but you can eat a big Mac while looking down at people over the rode doing the same thing. 0 Share this post Link to post

Too bad it's atleast a 20min drive to the nearest one. All we have in this stupid town is subway.... Did you just say three cheeseburgers? o_O 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 8, 2004 I wouldn't see a problem with three cheeseburgers if it weren't for the fact they have american cheese on them, which is an ingredient I think the FDA should re-examine the safety of. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hyena Posted February 8, 2004 I've occasionally eaten three cheeseburgers at once, (not mcdonalds, I mean cheeseburgers in general) and every time I came away not feeling too good. If three cheeseburgers constitutes your regular meal, that's bad. 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted February 8, 2004 Within a 4 mile radius of my house there are 4 McDonalds, 2 BKs, and 2 KFCs and 2 Subways. Used to be 5 McDs but they pulled the Clifton one because people there are too snooty to eat in Maccy D's apparantly. 0 Share this post Link to post
