Vegeta Posted February 12, 2004 I e-mailed John Romero asking him about his DOOM episode, and givin him some ideas I had. He answered me with.. Thanks for the nice email. I have very little time to work on the DOOM stuff and my only plan was to make some new levels in a 10-level set, based on the first episode textures. Nothing big and crazy as I don't have the time. So, I'd rather work on it alone since I do it when I have time. :) - John 0 Share this post Link to post
ellmo Posted February 12, 2004 You're shitting us? I thought he's working his hands to the bone with Doom 3... 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted February 12, 2004 Considering the guy just got married, I doubt we'll be seeing a new episode from him anytime soon, if ever. ellmo said:You're shitting us? I thought he's working his hands to the bone with Doom 3... Sarcasm? 0 Share this post Link to post

Ness Posted February 12, 2004 I don't believe Romero and Carmack are working on Doom 3. I think they split up after Quake because of DaiKatana. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted February 12, 2004 10 level E1 set? Sounds good except that an E1 set for Doom II is kind of a bad mix... hopefully he leaves out the Doom II baddies. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ness Posted February 12, 2004 Have you guys read Masters of Doom? It basicly explains what happened to ID, before and after. Did you know that ID made Commander Keen? Crazy shit. 0 Share this post Link to post

He hasn't worked for id since Quake. Ness said:Have you guys read Masters of Doom? It basicly explains what happened to ID, before and after. Did you know that ID made Commander Keen? Crazy shit. I've tryed explaining this to the people here but they don't seem to get it :-P 0 Share this post Link to post
ellmo Posted February 13, 2004 Ness said:Did you know that ID made Commander Keen? Yeap... And also first game of the Catacombs series was ID's work If I remember. It had the same main menu as the one met in late Keen's :P Softdisk was only distributing the first game, and then made another three based on ID's engine (Abyss, Apocalipse, and the one I can't remember)... If I'm mistaking, tell me the truth. 0 Share this post Link to post

Volte Posted February 13, 2004 AFAIK, they worked for Softdisk, they weren't called Softdisk. 0 Share this post Link to post

bartwart Posted February 16, 2004 There's no way he'd do another Doom episode. That'd be like us deciding to make a new lego castle after all these years. He's so passed Doom it's ridiculous. He's gone on with his life. 0 Share this post Link to post
bartwart Posted February 16, 2004 The point is that Romero's outgrown Doom, just like we've (hopefully) outgrown playing with legos! Sheesh. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted February 16, 2004 How can you "grow out" of something that's fun and creative? 0 Share this post Link to post
bartwart Posted February 16, 2004 I see that my metaphor has fallen on deaf ears. Insert the words "rocking horse" for "legos" in my original metaphor and see if that helps. 0 Share this post Link to post
