Question on SB16 emulation......

Recommended Posts

Is SB16 emulation required to get the game music to work in the Windows 95 versions of Doom? ie: Ultimate Doom, Doom2, and Final Doom

No. The DOS version requires Sound Blaster 16 compatibility for music, but not the Windows version.

Doom '95 uses DirectX for its sound & music, so as long as you've got sound in other Windows-based games, you should have sound in it too.

...though why the heck you'd want to use that POS Doom '95 instead of something like ZDoom or Eternity is anyone's guess :P

Doom95 is alright, it keeps the Doom atmosphere/feelings and adds high res and a nice GUI.
Still it is outmatched by PrBoom, PrBoom would need a good frontend tho (maybe I missed it).
