svoltmer Posted April 29, 2004 I am running Fedora Linux and would like to load jDoom on my machine, but I don't know what all I need? 0 Share this post Link to post
Epyo Posted April 29, 2004 I don't know what fedora linux is, but if you were using windows, you'd need ONE of the following: Doom2.wad, doom1.wad (that's the shareware I think), doom.wad, plutonia.wad, chex.wad, or tnt.wad. Chex.wad is the only free one. Anyway, I don't know if jdoom works on linux anyway. 0 Share this post Link to post
Planky Posted May 1, 2004 Fedora=Red Hat. jDooM does require windows, and as far as I know there aren't any linux ports. 0 Share this post Link to post

Epyo Posted May 1, 2004 Eh, I guess I don't count shareware as free because it's shareware, not freeware. Know what I mean? I suppose it does mean the same thing though. 0 Share this post Link to post
LogicDeLuxe Posted May 1, 2004 Sure, shareware is not freeware, but since the question was "Do I need a retail copy of Doom to Play", it doesn't matter. In fact, you can "play" the shareware version. It should work with all of the ports. Asking for editing would be a different case, as you may not make add-ons for doom1.wad. 0 Share this post Link to post
