Doom sound effect in VH1's 100 Most Metal Moments

Not that it's important, but everytime they show the cartoon of a demon, they play what sounds like a doom monster sound effect. Can anyone confirm this or has anyone heard it?

Many of dooms sound effects are public-domain ones that are used in many movies and TV shows, for instance the bossbrain-shooting sound appears all the time in cheap sci-fi channel "horror" shows with shit names like "Urban gothic" and "Gothic underground" and "Gothy gothic gothication"

I've heard the boss-brain sound in about 5 different game shows.

Heh I hear the Icon of Sin's "demon spawn" sound all the time

Door opening
Door closing
Boss Brain shooter
Barrel explosion
BFG shooting
BFG exploding
Elevator stopping
Elevator starting
Rocket shooting
Soldier dying 1 2 3
Imp dying 1 2

I've heard these in various shows on almost every channel at least once.

Ya, I've heard most of the ones Bashe mentioned on various shows, games, and movies. Especially the door opening and closing.

I heard a couple Heretic sounds too.

There's one Heretic sound in Unreal (in a tech map, too).

One time I swear I heard lots of Doom sounds while I was playing Doom before.

But, they use a lot Doomey sounds everywhere really.

Okay, they aren't playing the monster sound effects. All they're showing is:
The chick with the whip
The viking on the mountain thingie
The evil-looking building
The Grim Reaper
The dude playing the guitar
A skull

That's about it.

I didn't hear any Doom sound effects but I only started watching after the first half (didn't realize it was on before)

FYI, The sound effect is played right after the number is shown.
Example. #14 Appetite for Destruction(fire on the background and a demon on the right),and the sound effect plays. So it is heard 100 times.

this my friends, is called royalty free media. im sure movies even before doom used "doom" sounds, that seeewooompisshhhh sound ive heard in alot of explosions. its just like stock footage.

Apparently camels in the epic "Lawrence of arabia" make imp death sounds..

Yeah, it happens all the time. The monster noises from Blake Stone were in the movie Prehistoria and it drove me nuts.

The door open/close sounds can be found in a radio commercial for an air conditioning system, where the door open/close is supposed to be when a competitor's ac break down. Cool stuff.

all these sounds are public domain, ok a good amount of them. i think even before doom, these where public domain. though i am sure some are made by Id them selves. so it is reasonable to believe they are gonna be used by people.

same with movies, they dont make every sound effect they need. they get sound libraries and find ones they can use. however it is a bit cheesy. why add a sound that isnt natural?
example: dream catcher
every time the possesed guy flips his hood... spawn cube sound, WTF?

Well, then they should be somewhere available for download (sure, they are inside the shareware wad). I mean, I wonder if they are available in better quality than Doom's 11025 Hz somewhere.

most of the sounds in doom are stock sounds you can buy on a sound CD for pretty cheap (though the price may go up for commercial use?). stock sounds are used in every single game and movie.

In one of Rammsteins songs...trying to remember which one...i wanna say its Laichzeit. They have about 4 measures with the rythm and its actually into the song a shotgun blast and then doom guy death scream...

All right... this just kills me...

We were watching a porn movie (well, not really but there were naked chicks) and a fight broke out at the bar the chicks were at. They never showed it but you could hear the noises. After a few punches, I heard... the Heretic dude dying noise. Good lord... there is no god... that sound effect sounded so out of place that I wanted to kill myself.

I've heard the door openign sound / closing sound in the Rugrats episode where the four babies become superheroes and defeated Angelitron. They were a spin-off ofthe Fantastic Four.

I've heard the imp dying sound alot, and the Icon of Sin cube spawning one in a movie where a fire broke out, or was that a commerical? The Spider Mastermind seeing you can be heard in a sound library on Creative Writer and Fine Artist, VERY old programs for kids that worked on Windows 3.1.

On Modern Marvels (History Channel) they play the door opening and closing sounds when they're going to a commercial or coming back. I've also heard said noises on Rugrats.

And you guys have already noted the open/close sounds aren't that rare to hear.
