Darkman 4 Posted June 17, 2004 I got 0.9 a few days ago. Didn't like it, so today I reinstalled 0.8 without uninstalling 0.9 first. Now, when I try to open Firefox, the program itself doesn't appear at all, but it does appear in the processes tab in Task Manager. What should I do? 0 Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted June 17, 2004 Did you try uninstalling Firefox alltogether and reinstalling 0.8? 0 Share this post Link to post
Erp Posted June 17, 2004 I had problems with Firefox also. I went back to using Firebird .7 and am so happy I don't see any reason to upgrade. .7 has the most skins and the skin authors are slow to upgrade. Maybe when Firefox 1.0 has been out for a year or so, then I might upgrade. 0 Share this post Link to post

Darkman 4 Posted June 17, 2004 Ah screw it. What is a profile? I suck at computers, so I have no clue. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted June 17, 2004 remember firefox is still a beta version, so there are gonna be problems. try this uninstall it shut down all unnessesary programs (like AIM, virus scan and firewall) a virus scan might mess with it, a fire wall will block it. i never insalled firefox on windows, are you admin? (for NT, 2000 and XP) make sure you dont have any spyware, this causes problems anyways. 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkman 4 Posted June 17, 2004 Done all of that, and it still isn't working. 0 Share this post Link to post
Arioch Posted June 17, 2004 Basically, it's probably a botched Firefox user profile upgrade that's causing you to not be able to launch. Uninstall .9, reinstall .8, use the profile manager link in the start menu folder, and delete all of your Firefox profiles. Then uninstall .8, delete the Firefox directory from Program Files, then reinstall .9 That should do it. 0 Share this post Link to post
gatewatcher Posted June 18, 2004 Profiles were new to .8, I think? Are they necessary or what? .6/.7 are still the best versions (when combined with a third party download manager 9_9) and they didn't use profiles, so why implement them? 0 Share this post Link to post
