what is the difference between adult only and mature, you have to be 18 to buy anyone of them. I think....

AO contains things like extreme nudity and sexual situations (e.g. porn).

The game should be and will be rated "M" for mature, 17+.

Going way back to the social-worker's-kids thing, those are the people that really piss me off. Those that want to ban "violent" games because "they ruin society...make kids more prone to violence..." Kids that will do what they see in a videogame are the ones that REALLY ought to have the games banned from them.

And if you believe Doom3 will be rated E, boy, do I have a bridge to sell you...

Oh, another thing - i read in my friend's PSM (june i think) that the ESRB doesn't even play games to review them. Instead, publishers have to send in footage of the game's most violent moments. Your ordinary joe shmuck then reviews the footage to determine the rating. Wrong, I tell you.

so i could hide shit in a game??

i figured they at least reviewed all graphics used. as well as footage and possibly a little play.

no the game IS NOT gonna be rated E.

i said it before, it WAS a MISPRINT. which happens all the time with stuff.

the game will be M+, nuff said. honestly i think it would be kinda lame if it got a teen rating. and i dont see a AO rating unless they add plenty of impse

So it was rated just about a week ago. That's good news I guess, must be very close to being finished in that case since ratings are usually one of the last things done. Not THE last thing done, just one of the last things.

That's pretty damn encouraging if you ask me. I think I'll be playing this game within a month. The official Doom III page still says unrated however. I'm assuming they won't update that page until it's either gone gold or shipped to retailers.

How can we rate a first person shooter an "E"?

Allowing six-year-olds to play a shooting game with violence, blood, and gore? That just seems wrong.

Many six-year-olds who would play such a game might think it is REAL. Then, as they get older, they get a gun and shoot people, just like in DOOM 3.

We already have too many teenage morons who think DOOM is reality. Think about Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. (DOOM was blamed for the shootings).

If this game gets an "E" rating, then something is definitely wrong. Even if it gets a "T", something is wrong.

game violence does not cause killings! while yes a 6 year old could see it as real, but they dont grow up thinking that. i didnt, and many other here didnt.

i agree six year olds should not be allowed to play such games, even 10 year olds shouldn't. however it is not gonna make a killer of any single human being. games dont help with aim, they dont teach you how to kill, the dont teach you to use weapons. if a person is gonna kill, they will. huamns ARE a violent species after all. other wise we would not like violent games and movies.

jesus fucking christ, if you belive doom had any part in columibine you are a dumbass. no offense but i hate people who blame games, movies, music and media for these things.

columbine was the result of serveral things. violence in media had nothing to do with it. Eric harris and company didnt think doom was real in any form. they liked it, yes. but thinking it was reality, no. any article that says so is wrong. read articles from police invetigators not time mag. Socity is more to blame than doom, and even it wasnt much of the blame in some reports i have read. harris, had the internal makings of a serial killer to start with. this person would have eventualy done something and chances are strong that he would live no normal life anyways. he was a pure killer, mental illness and such. society's fault was exiling and ignoring such people. hiding a bomb doesn't mean it wont go off, you got to difuse it. in this case they hid their bomb in the TNT shack.

there are already threads about this.

as i said this was a COMIC ERROR in a memo about upcoming games for empolees to know. has information about the games name, expected release date, rating and system specs or what consoles it will be on. as well as a little basic info. this is ment to be a guide for when people ask about upcoming games.

ill disagree. there is no single cause for violence. it simply exists and is something that all people are succeptable to. the difference is i) at what level people act out on it and (ii) how far you go i.e) ending it at a punch in the face or going far enough to kill

heh halo 2, lets hope doom III comes out before halo 2 and HL2.

considering the original release dates of both, heh but i am not surprised by either of those projects.

microsoft buys bungie, could this be the end of halo? i remember reading that in a old game mag that is around here. i think it is dated sometime in 2000 or maybe even 1999. it has adds for screaming fast 1.5Ghz P4 and 900Mhz systems

(Who if were any sort of parents at all would have known there was something wrong and gave a shit enough to pay more attention to their kids. It's the parents faults, no one elses).

If you wanna see the rating system gone bad, play NWN. I was shocked by the pulpy red messes I was bombarded by after having read that it was rated teen. Frankly it's probably got more or somewhat equal gore to Quake.
