Comments on UACR

Who here has played UACR? Did you notice the following things?

1) The nuke launcher is ridiculously gay.
2) There are FAR TOO MANY TYPES OF ENEMIES.
3) The machinegun is useless.
4) The autoshotgun...isn't.
5) The BFG9000 apparently does far more damage than it used to.
6) The BFG2704 does very little damage.
7) The Gauntlets are well...unimpressive. Pretty, tho.
8) The amazing lack of a railgun.
9) The complete ineffectiveness of all the "0"-key weapons.
10)The complete lack of a coherent storyline. WHY ARE THERE NAZIS?!?
11)The amazing amount of content ripped from Wolfenstein and Quake(x).
12)The really annoying U1M1 music.
13)The variety of flamethrowers, all ineffective.
14)The extreme coolness of the dispersion pistol's graphic.

Even after all this, UACR still looks to be a lot of fun simply due to the incredible variety of weapons and enemies. But, uh, DWR...care to explain some of this stuff?

more like too many bosses.

3) The machinegun is useless.

i'm gonna improve it... eventually.

4) The autoshotgun...isn't.

heh.

i never changed it.

6) The BFG2704 does very little damage.

except at really close range. i'm gonna increase the damage soon.

7) The Gauntlets are well...unimpressive. Pretty, tho.

yeah. i'll think of something to improve it.

that isn't exactly my highest priority.

doom alpha weapons. i'm gonna give them a more appropiate number for each.

the storyline has been discussed on irc, but there isn't a complete version yet. i've done a story line in really quick format, but i've lost it. should be easy to do again.

heh. like 10, the wolfenstein enemies are clearly stated in the (currently incomplete) storyline. the quake stuff..

i don't find it annoying, but i'll change it if you want me to.

13)The variety of flamethrowers, all ineffective.

umm, yeah. considering this is a really early ver, there has to be some bugs i thoughtlessly sorted out. i've found a way to do 2 different explosion damages on one attack, but it hasn't been properly tested yet. i might do it with a flamethrower (explosion damage 32 for the in-flight frames, 64 x (possibly) 2 for the death explosions (two explosions, not one big one)

thanks yet again. some weapons (nuke launcher for example) are intended for sp only, (come to think about it, 20 rockets is not enough for a nuke, neither is 20 cells for a deathball. (coming in the next release. it's like a nuke launcher, but you can't kill yourself with it in god mode) i might change it to 30.) while others are intended for dm. (doom alpha 0.5 rifle, due to it's incredible use of sniping)

I have to admit, I made the dispersion pistol, I was kinda drunk that night so I didn't really know what the hell I was doing.

but if deathwarrior thinks its ok, then blah, there is always room for improvements you know. :)

I remember us discussing whether the UACR channel should be #uacres or #uacress, heh. How couldn't we recall how "resurrection" is spelled? :P
