BlankMind Posted July 22, 2004 Are there other old FPS source ports? Doom/Heretic/Hexen have a lot, and now Randy is making a good work with Strife on ZDoom. Duke 3D and Quake have good ports too. But I'd like source ports for those games: - Blood /Redneck Rampage (both uses Duke 3D code). - Marathon 2 (this game is cool, the only problem is that mouse support sucks. I wonder if there is a port that "fix" it) - Descent/Descent 2. - Dark Forces (I'd like to play under Win XP). - Wolf 3D. - Blake Stone (uses Wolf 3D code). All these games had their source codes released... If someone knows advanced ports for any of these games please tell me. Thanks. 0 Share this post Link to post
DaniJ Posted July 22, 2004 Blood has never and will never see the source released. There's plenty of Wolf3D source ports though. Google is your friend. 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted July 22, 2004 Rott has a few ports floating around, and Descent 1 and 2 do as well. I also know Wolf3d has some. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mogul Posted July 22, 2004 NewWolf is the only Wolf3d port worth looking into. It has openGL support, as well as support for high resolution textures. 0 Share this post Link to post
Arioch Posted July 22, 2004 Dark Forces will never see a source port. Some people have reported success in running it under XP, it's a matter of having decent sound emulation and VESA support in your video card drivers. http://darkforces.jediknight.net/ this is probably a nice project to wait for though 0 Share this post Link to post
Chow Yun Thin Posted July 22, 2004 Aleph One is the source port for Marathon 2. http://source.bungie.org/ 0 Share this post Link to post

And it's for Academy instead of Jedi Outcast now. Neat. 0 Share this post Link to post

wildweasel Posted July 22, 2004 BlankMind said:Why? They've lost the code like the Strife Team? Because GT Interactive owns the rights to the source code. No amount of petitioning, badgering, threatening, or bribing will get GT to release any of its stuff for free - even though they're pretty much dead by now. 0 Share this post Link to post
Crisis King Posted July 23, 2004 Everyone proabably knows this one, but hey... Duke 3D http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/buildport/duke3d/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted July 23, 2004 I have a Descent II sourceport, but I forget what it's called. 0 Share this post Link to post
