i cant open a doom 2 recording

i got an xp my comp keeps saying "windows doesnt know this type of file". How do i open a .lmp file?

Start->Run enter 'cmd'
navigate to your Doom directory.
unzip the demo zipfile into your Doom directory.
play the demo with a command similar to:
'doom -playdemo demoname'
note, if you have doom95, you can run it thusly:
'doom95 -playdemo demoname'
I urge you to download prboom and read its documentation. It will simplify(sp edit) and enhance your experience.

If you want to use a source port, the old school lmps will work with prboom, and Eternity, for starters.
