Doom 3 Out There

Thanks to some SUPER AWESOME retailers who have decided that the notion of a "release date" is antiquated and instead decided to jump the gun and screw over other establishments who actually respect the instructions they are given, Doom 3 is starting to seep out onto shelves nationwide. Well, not so much seep onto shelves as jump directly from the shipping box into the quivering hands of gamers who were calling stores 8 times an hour waiting for the UPS truck to arrive.

So yes, Doom 3 is "out" sort of and photos of the box and screenshots of the game are legit, however, the game is not supposed to actually be released until Tuesday. After four years of waiting you wouldn't think three more days would be a big deal, but whatever.

They're cool in one sense, but gigantic dicks in another.

Thats it, I am raiding all Gamespot stores in my area...

I wonder what id thinks of this.

DOOM 3 wont be out on the weekend in my opinion.

You guys just wait and see - this has a great chance of being bogus...I sure hope its not though. =(

Damn, most places around here aren't releasing it until August 3rd. The EB I pre-ordered the game from is now saying that they'll release it August 2nd (I didn't get if they actually had the game and weren't releasing it or didn't have them in yet). That's better than the projected August 4th release date they told be earlier this week, but if worst comes to worst, it might get released some time in between.

I give it a day tops before it starts showing up on the P2P networks, if it hasn't already.

Hmm, i think i have to visit my local MediaMarkt and even give Saturn a visit ^.^
Maybee some idiot have put it in a shelv already. :P

Heh. Luckily I have no work from Monday to Thursday, so if it arrives at the EB I preordered from early I won't have to suffer through work knowing I could be playing it.

My local Best Buy put up the copies on the shelves an hour before close. I got there just in time to nab one. Here's a shot of me being sad that there is no Muliplayer servers up yet:

I really hope that id have done everything possible to stop people pirating Doom 3. CD lock, serial check, manual codes the works... cos otherwise it'll become the most pirated game ever.

Hopefully they'll do it well, though. Quake 3 Arena's PunkBuster support drives me up the wall. It keeps bugging me for the serial key of the game all the time, and kicks me from games for "not having an updated punkbuster version", even though I bought the game when it came out a few years ago. Of course, older versions of the game didn't do this. I don't like Quake 3 arena anyways, so it doesn't really bother me much.

IIRC it's released on August 12th here in Germany. I think it's not a wise move to release it over a week later in Europe. I'm sure a lot people will just warez it.

Changing the subject completely, it would appear those people who were claiming Doom 3 wouldn't be able to fit in a DVD case due to the number of CDs have now been majorly 0wned.

I haven't seen the case, anywhere we can see some pictures of it

According to their advertisement Saturn is going to sell it on August 12th. So I'll grab a copy there when I return from work, since I have to go by there anyway.
