Rodzilla Posted August 3, 2004 Alright, this is driving me nuts. The problem I'm having is that every time I open a new door, the game pauses for a second or two. It's really annoying to open a door, knowing there's a monster behind it, and to just have the game take a break. My specs: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ ASUS A7N8X Motherboard GeForce 6800 GT Ultra (latest forceware) SB Audigy 2 (latest drivers) 512 MB PC2700 RAM Anyone know what's up? I'm running it at 1280x1024 on High detail. 0 Share this post Link to post
Betchanz Posted August 3, 2004 Yeah, I see this too when using a 9800 Pro 128 Mb, 1 Gb system ram, 2.3 Ghz AMD, running 1024, high detail. I originally thought that it was related to my 128 Mb vid ram, but if you are seeing it on a 256 Mb card then I don't know. At least you know its not just you. 0 Share this post Link to post
Skeletor Posted August 4, 2004 maybe because your at a high resolution in high detail. Even if you have a 6800. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rodzilla Posted August 4, 2004 Benchmarks have shown the 6800 Ultra being able to perform well even at 1600x1200, so why am I having these problems? 0 Share this post Link to post
Spore Posted August 4, 2004 Maybe cpu or Ram then. It doesn't happen to me on High Settings but at 1024x768. I thought I read somewhere that 1GB ram helped run better. At least so far. lol A64 3500 GF5900 A8V 1.06 bios 1.5GB Corsair 3200LL Ram Windows XP 0 Share this post Link to post
WGH Posted August 4, 2004 I have the same mobo and had the same problem but fixed it once I installed a new driver for it, I will find a link for you. Edit: I belive this is it. http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=132076 0 Share this post Link to post
Rodzilla Posted August 4, 2004 And those drivers are for an ASUS A7N8X? 0 Share this post Link to post
Rodzilla Posted August 4, 2004 I upgraded from 512 MB RAM to 1024 MB RAM and it's smooth as butter now. I guess it was swapping shit. 0 Share this post Link to post
Relica Religia Posted August 4, 2004 It's a memory thing. That's what all the hubbub was about regarding "1 gig is better than half a gig". 0 Share this post Link to post
sandmanfvr Posted August 4, 2004 Well I got: Athlon 3000+ 400 Mhz FSB FX 5900XT 128 meg 512 DDR 400 I am playing on 1024x768 medium, perfect. High stutters on door opening but in cut scenes it was butter. Maybe my 512. But medium detail is no much different than high, really can't see the difference. 0 Share this post Link to post
