Laguna Posted August 6, 2004 Well... As you can see the editor in Doom 3 is pretty nice and more sophisticated than its Q3Radiant and GTKRadiant counterparts. A few things to note for the non-intuitive interface: Pressing "F3" will bring you into "render mode." Subsequently pressing "F4" will bring you into realtime render mode, which renders shadow volumes, specular highlights, and bump-mapping, as well as applying said effects to enemy model skins and surfaces. Pressing "F5" will display the light entity bounding boxes so you can move them around in real-time rendering mode, since otherwise they will simply disappear. Please remember to press F7 after building/deleting/modifying/transforming geometry in Real-Time mode, since the editor does seem to run a little buggy, it will rebuild the surfaces to show in the viewport, otherwise, you will only be able to view your changes in the non-realtime view. (Thanks to the guys at #zdoom for pointing this out!) Here's a little picture of a shit map I'm working on to get the feel of the editor. It displays the dynamic lighting, shadow volumes, bump maps and specular highlights in its full 1024x768 glory: Please feel free to add more comments and tips. 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkhaven Posted August 6, 2004 I believe it should be pointed out that if you compile your map and you get some missing entity errors, try compiling it under "bsp_noaas". 0 Share this post Link to post
Endureth Posted August 6, 2004 Are you distributing Doom 3 via BitTorrent? -E 0 Share this post Link to post
Kaiser Posted August 7, 2004 also, make sure that antialising is disabled in Doom3 before using the editor, or else nothing will work. 0 Share this post Link to post
Laguna Posted August 7, 2004 Thanks for adding that. Turning Multisampling off DOES help. Pretty soon a GTK version of Doom3 Radiant will be out and we can use it in a fully functional way without having to worry about turning off certain things or changing the resolution all the time. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kaiser Posted August 7, 2004 I really don't mind. Besides, I always have the main parameters set in both doom3 and d3radiant shortcuts, that way I won't have to set them again in the console. 0 Share this post Link to post
Joe Posted August 7, 2004 The editor looks great, just like Q3Radiant! I've been looking for a pic of the editor. Nice one Laguna! Is everything the same as the usual radiant? You might want to shrink / make a link to that image. Max posted image size 640x480 in this forum remember! Joe 0 Share this post Link to post
odex Posted August 7, 2004 How did you get the four windows up like that? Doesn't work here. 0 Share this post Link to post
BNA! Posted August 8, 2004 odex said:How did you get the four windows up like that? Doesn't work here. These windows open on the left side upper corner so if the cam window is there or other move them to the right. Anyhow, view/toggle (choose winow) they will all show up. 0 Share this post Link to post
