Keep hearing music on Doomworld

I just heard some 'rock music' coming from my computer. The only thing running at the moment is this site... It happened to me last night as well.

What's going on? Has Doomworld been hacked... is this some kind of a joke... what?

The music is a fragment of a few seconds. You can hear an electric guitar and some screaming...

I know at least one other person heard it on his computer as well...

wtf? Could it have something to do with that thing you were playing in that other thread? has it happened since and was it forums/main page?

It happened to me twice: last night and a few minutes ago.

I wasn't playing that other thing from the other thread and it only happened to me while visiting these forums.

I'm starting to doubt it now, but I was either at the main page (http://www.doomworld.com/vb/) or the "ee" page (http://www.doomworld.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=11) when it happened.

Could it be one of the advertisement banners on the bottom of the page making music???

I haven't heard it. Of course all night I've had "Personal Jesus" blasting through my headphones so I probably wouldn't notice anyway.

Yeah, I just got it again too. It's definitely something on the site. It may be the ad.

Next time it happens stop, and Veiw the source and post it for it us (IE: View->Source, Mozilla: Ctrl+U) Last night I was having more server issues than usual BTW, every link asked me to log in, threads "didn't exist" when I tried posting (after logging in again) etc.

It's most probably the ads. When the "Hidalgo" movie ads were showing here, I'd hear stupid "dramatic" music - and all the time, I'd have Modplug or Deliplayer going. Boy did it clash. I'm quite glad I have the "Nuke Everything" plugin for Mozilla, so I can just right-click and nuke the flash ad from the page (unfortunately it comes back if I refresh).

Sometimes I hear a really quick muffled sound, that may be music, when I go to a new page, but it only lasts what seems less than a second.

Edit: Okay, after making this post, rock music started to play.

Double-Edit: Okay, yeah, it's that Ipod and HP add that plays the rock music.

If you go to old pages within Doomworld it's easy to get pop-ups, some of which have sound. The editing tutorials or the old forums, for instance, are in the old format.

Supertrick will fix this stuff pre-emptively for you.

have no issues, even when looking for porn. I used IE up until last year, at which case i saw it was the issue.

I switched to mozilla and ever sence then all the computers i have worked on got mozilla installed. I have never had pop-up issues with mozilla. even spyware got cut down, 90% on my dad and brother's computers
