Recommended Posts

I havent forced AA in open GL mode. Its set by default in high quality, so I cant alter that. I turned it off in direct 3d mode just to be sure. No diff.

Any ideas?

Get used to it. It's a game. Unless you play at INSANE resolutions, or have 8x antialiasing, or both, you will always notice jaggies like that, especially on repetative horizontal lines.

It is called aliasing. Even in the original Doom, it happens to certain flats.

Quoted for truth. Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering will lessen these effects, but sometimes it just happens. Especially with grate textures where you have a lot of thin lines. You just have to live with it really.

Then why does it only happen at middle distance and not far away on the screen?

Differing mipmap levels. It also depends on what resolution you're using. Higher resolution equates to more accurate sampling, so aliasing is diminished.
