Arioch Posted September 19, 2004 The Doom 3 demo is finally out, so it probably means the finalized first patch, the Linux dedicated server, the SDK, and/or the Linux and Mac OS X ports aren't far behind. As expected, the demo consists of the first three maps. Grab the demo from these following places if you don't already have the game (what?!): 3D Downloads3D GamersFileaholicFilerushFileshackSo, yeah. Post them links as you find them. 0 Share this post Link to post

S1lent Posted September 19, 2004 :-( All the servers on 3D Gamer are on "Maximum Capacity." I can't download it from there. Does FileShack really charge their accounts? 0 Share this post Link to post

Jello Posted September 19, 2004 /still hasn't bought XP I really need to upgrade my OS. Funny how the alpha worked on ME, but the full version doesn't. Well, time to count my pennies. Then play the demo to make sure I can run it... 0 Share this post Link to post
Epyo Posted September 19, 2004 The first time you take control of your character is probably the laggiest part of the game :) Darn moving space shuttle! 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted September 20, 2004 OMG DEMO!!! I started downloading ten minutes ago from my subscriber account at Fileplanet, and it should be done in 20 minutes so I can try it out. EDIT! A download link from FilePlanet (some people actually prefer using this over the other sites) - http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/145822.shtml 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted September 20, 2004 I still haven't installed it, doh. I just blew an entire weekend (last 2 weekends, actually) on a PHP assignment that I JUST finished and submitted. But that's for another blog. 0 Share this post Link to post
DOOM Anomaly Posted September 20, 2004 Holy Santo Domingo Señor Ding-Dong! Doom III froze my computer when loading those under ground labs. :P Other wise, the first part of the game ran painfully slow at a good rounded 1fps with everything turned off. :P Welp, that was fun. :D 0 Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted September 21, 2004 As expected, the demo consists of the first three maps. Heh, that's 90% of the storyline for the game right there. 0 Share this post Link to post

dsm Posted September 22, 2004 Wobbo said:If it doesnt actually affect the game than its just filler, not story That's the worst piece of horse shit I've read to date. So, RTC-3057 hub1's story is just filler eh? So you in your eyes, a story is one of those annoying gameplay elements I'd like to call "crucial cutscenes" and that sort of crap? What you call "filler" is what I call a "non-forced" story - a story you can choose to engage in or not. 0 Share this post Link to post

OK then here's the majority of Doom 3's "non-forced" story "Everyone is going crazy! I keep hearing strange noises! I wish I could leave." "Everyone is going crazy! I keep hearing strange noises! I wish I could leave." "Everyone is going crazy! I keep hearing strange noises! I wish I could leave." "Everyone is going crazy! I keep hearing strange noises! I wish I could leave." doom2day Posted September 22, 2004 Damn, thats BIG, even the full (downloadable, yeah straight from rockstar.) version of Grand Theft Auto is smaller. Is that file even zipped? Why the hell do i still have dial up, a 10 MB download takes an hour, is there any other way to get it that is sane? 0 Share this post Link to post
flyinghippo Posted September 22, 2004 doom2day said:Damn, thats BIG, even the full (downloadable, yeah straight from rockstar.) version of Grand Theft Auto is smaller. Is that file even zipped? I know. That really dissapointed me. I was at 50% on a download manager, and the server broke or something and I had to restart. I need a better way to download... 0 Share this post Link to post
Schneelocke Posted September 22, 2004 There *is* a bittorrent download (on 3dgamers IIRC)... 0 Share this post Link to post
doom2day Posted September 22, 2004 like heck, why don't they sell it for 5 dollars for the poor people with dialup connections rather than force them to surf the web for 48 hours straight so they aren't disconnected overnight. 0 Share this post Link to post
