Hannibal Posted September 20, 2004 why is it that at the end of the game the guys with shot guns are called "Shot Gun Guy" and when your killed by them they are called "Sargents"? im not sure if this is the same for other guys but let me know. thanks 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted September 20, 2004 There are several inconsistencies between the manual and the end-of-game stuff. The obituary messages are a feature that some ports have added. The port makers clearly had to make a decision about which "official" name to go with, or else to make up their own name. If you want to know why they made the choices they did, you'd better ask them. 0 Share this post Link to post

TheDarkArchon Posted September 20, 2004 I call them "cannon fodder." I also call Immoral Conducts Shotguy's "Annoying little buggers." :) 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomDan Posted September 20, 2004 Some manuals claim that Hell Knights are called "Knights of Hell"[pretty much the same thing] 0 Share this post Link to post

Grazza Posted September 20, 2004 Good question, but it has been discussed before. Little Faith's post here looks quite convincing. Perhaps he can clarify what his source was. 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted September 20, 2004 In the early development stages they were referred to as: Demon Trooper (Imp) and Demon Sargeant (Demon). 0 Share this post Link to post

Cyb Posted September 22, 2004 doesn't it even call stuff by those names in the manual? Not the Doom 2 one, because I don't have it, but the Ultimate Doom one refers to them as Demon Troopers and Demon Seargents and Demon Heads (Cacos) and Possessed Humans... or maybe that was some other manual or s alpha/beta textfile I'm thinking of, but I'm fairly certain they're refered to by their sprite names somewhere. ps to flexgalaxy, if you're going to double-post, make sure both of your posts aren't 100% worthless 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted September 22, 2004 To be exact, the DOOM Bible names coincide with the abbreviations used for the sprite names (in regard to monsters from the shareware.) Check section 7.2 Actors at the page linked. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cacodreams Posted September 23, 2004 Sometimes people call the arachnotron a "baby spider". 0 Share this post Link to post
Kinsie Posted September 23, 2004 I call the monsters "Things I should shoot." I call the player marines "Things I should REALLY shoot. A lot." I call CTF teammate player marines "Things I should pretend to help, while in reality scooping up all the health and ammo so I can shoot the enemy." 0 Share this post Link to post

Foofoo Posted September 23, 2004 they're called Shotgun guys in the game because they are different bad guys to the Seargents. Shotgun guys have a shotgun and are bald and shoot you. Seargents, on the other hand, are bald and have a shotgun and shoot you while moonwalking. 0 Share this post Link to post

myk Posted September 24, 2004 Yes. Specifically:Enemies Possesed Humans: Humans covered with blood holding rifles. Demon troops: Brown demons with spikes that shoot red fireballs. Demon sergeant: Pink-reddish stumpy demon that bites. Demon skull: Floating skull that shoots you with its glare. Demon head: Very large float red head that shoots fireballs. Bruiser: Huge boss demon with horns that shoot green fireballs. 0 Share this post Link to post
Foofoo Posted September 24, 2004 jeeze. 'Bruiser' sounds like something out of Mario Bros. 0 Share this post Link to post
LexiMax Posted September 24, 2004 HEAD = Cacodemon Yeah, that just about summs up the Caco. A Head. *laughs* 0 Share this post Link to post
TheDarkArchon Posted September 24, 2004 If it were up to me, the Cacodemon sprites would be called "TOMA". 0 Share this post Link to post
