Outer Remix

Kiltron has released a preview of the Outer Base level for the upcoming Quake 2 remix project over at his Mean Arena.

This is to show the direction the mod is heading. Everything has been done from scratch and also sports an original score created specifically for this level from the original Quake 2 soundtrack creator, Sonic Mayhem.

Wow, that level looks really good. It's a lot more impressive than screenshots I've seen from Doom 1 remix projects.

That would probably be because reworking a game that's already "True 3D" is a hell of a lot easier than reworking the Doom engine into a True 3D engine.

Having said that, I do like the level.

Great fun to play but the lighting was terribly unoptimized, had to lower the res.

Textures seemed to lack normal maps, and it still ran like shit.

Not too bad to play though.
