Ryback Posted October 18, 2004 I knew he wouldn't be satisfied with twelve seconds over :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Angus Thermopyle Posted October 18, 2004 Hahahahaaa!!! Great, really great! The damn program tried everything to prevent him from breaking this mark. I'm not sure if he's also satisfied with that, Ryback :) 0 Share this post Link to post
RamboBones Posted October 18, 2004 It's just insane! Now to do better.... 0 Share this post Link to post
Schneelocke Posted October 18, 2004 Oh my goodness. o.O EDIT (half an hour later): sweet, sweet stuff, Drew. It seemed like you got a bit nervous in the last couple of maps, but still, this is an astounding movie. Henning, your turn! :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Kristian Ronge Posted October 18, 2004 This is a historic date... Wow. My hat goes off to you, Drew! I haven't watched it yet, but I'm sure it's just as good as (wait, who am I kidding!? BETTER THAN!) the others. For what it's worth, coming from a lowly DooMing peasant: CONGRATULATIONS! :-D 0 Share this post Link to post

I'll probably take a break for a time until I get win98 on this machine... I just didn't want to leave sub-30 before then. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Manc Posted October 18, 2004 Not really a demo fanatic myself, but congrats to you anyway. That's an extremely impressive time! 0 Share this post Link to post

lerner Posted October 19, 2004 That was a great demo. That's the stuff I WISH I could do. 0 Share this post Link to post
Relica Religia Posted October 19, 2004 What a great day for demo-recorders everywhere. This is awesome. Great work. 0 Share this post Link to post

Schneelocke Posted October 21, 2004 Works For Me(tm). Maybe try http://competn.doom2.net/incoming/compet-n/30nm2956.zip instead? 0 Share this post Link to post
Searcher Posted October 21, 2004 OMG!! It is a historic moment. Vile, Congrats man. Mercy me. How'd he do that? 0 Share this post Link to post
Schneelocke Posted October 21, 2004 How'd he do that? Lots of practicing, I'd say. ^_~ Mixed with a generous amount of skill (which, of course, is due in good part at least to the practicing) and some luck... 0 Share this post Link to post

Schneelocke Posted October 22, 2004 *nods* Ah well, maybe someone else who is new and asked themselves the same question read it, at least. ^^ 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMBoy Posted October 22, 2004 Just watched it, really good stuff, take it all around. It'd really make my day to see this pushed to 28:xx...if it's possible :) 0 Share this post Link to post

It'd really make my day to see this pushed to 28:xx...if it's possible :) It's clearly physically possible. Remember Sedlo did a TAS 30nm1843 (that time is from memory - sorry if it's a few seconds out) some years ago. The question is how many of those tricks (and other ones developed later) can be made reproduceable enough to be feasible in a non-TAS run. I'd say talent is the number one ingredient in Vile making this extraordinary achievement. Hard work, practice and imagination are obviously essential too, of course, but no amount of them would be enough for most of us. I doubt I could do a 30nm of any sort even after a year's solid full-time work on it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted October 23, 2004 Ah, yes. I always get the last digits of 30hr2843 and 30nm1849 confused. 0 Share this post Link to post
doom2day Posted November 19, 2004 Is he supposed to keep on dying on level 9? 0 Share this post Link to post

doom2day Posted November 19, 2004 Whenever i play the demo it runs fine until the pit and he dies part way and keeps dying in the slime pit. WTF? 0 Share this post Link to post
Schneelocke Posted November 19, 2004 ZDoom doesn't play non-ZDoom demos, yes. Try prboom, maybe? That always worked fine for me. 0 Share this post Link to post
