Beavers Snatch Cash
A creek in Louisiana is home to a family of lucky beavers. Cash stolen from a local casion, estimated to be about $70,000-75,000, was found woven into a beaver dam. Two out of three stolen bags of money were found, the equivalent of $40,000. The area's sherriff had noted that, "They hadn't torn the bills up. They were still whole."

Powell Resigns as Secretary of State
As of last Friday, secretary of state Colin Powell has asked to resign, saying, "Now that the election is over the time has come for me to step down as secretary of state and return to private life." Powell stated that he believes that the one thing that he will have to walk away from unfinished is the war on terror. It appears likely that Condoleezza Rice will be his successor, deemed the "president's choice". More on this story here.

Not that other presidents haven't had people quit, but this is astounding, and that so many have quit for hostile reasons, Sullivan especially.

It is marginally astounding, but in the opposite sense. Most administrations go through a fair amount of people; this one is notable for how many people have stayed for the entire four years.

His successor is going to bring the death squads up from Central and South America. Then people in the hick states will be disappear or be murdered for trying unionize at Coca-Cola production plants here.
