DOOM Anomaly Posted December 8, 2004 Janizdreg said:Are you masochist or do you just like lying? I actually liked Jill of the Jungle a lot. I only had the shareware but I played it more times than I can count, always enjoying it. Hmm... NES Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Dr.Mario Snake Rattle 'n' Roll Kirby's Adventure Excite Bike And others. Megadrive Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (& Knuckles) Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (& Knuckles) Sonic & Knuckles Streets of Rage 2 And a few more. SNES Kirby Superstar Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Island Super Mario World Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Super Metroid (though I didn't get to play it much, I recognize it as a great game) Super Bonk And maybe a little bit more. Sega Game Gear Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble Cool Spot Legend of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse And maybe some more. I would put gameboy, but it still has some games that were released in the past few years. 0 Share this post Link to post

Those truly were the g... g... gloomy old days. 0 Share this post Link to post

Cyb Posted December 8, 2004 I only had a Genesis and SegaCD, though I got the SegaCD way after it had died for like $20 (including a bunch of games)... aaaaanyways: Genesis: Sonic 1/2/3/K Vectorman 1/2 Ristar Maximum Carnage (even though it was way too hard) Contra Hardcorps (same) Earthworm Jim 1/2 Comix Zone Toy Story (even though it kept repeating itself they really got a lot out of the Genesis with that game) Rocket Knight 1/2 (2 more than 1) SegaCD: Sonic CD Sewer Shark ... I didn't have any other games for SegaCD that were any good, and Sewer Shark wasn't really even that great, but it was pretty fun and addictive until the game froze midway through because the damn cd had a scratch or something :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted December 8, 2004 Erm, I only owned 2 "platforms": PC Civilization Turbo Science Commander Keen 4 Commadore 64 Choplifter Jumpman Frogger I think those all fit into the criteria. Those are basicaly the games I played a lot before Doom came out. Also for PC I played Duke Nukem 1+2, Bio menace, Halloween Harry/Alien Carnage, Space Quest 1-3, King's Quest 2, Police Quest 1-3, Eco Quest, Eco Quest: Rainforest, Freddy Pharcus, The Adventures of Willy Bemish, Galactix, Raptor, Treasure Mountain, Where in the USA/World is Carmen Sandiego?, The Incredible Machine, Jill of the Jungle, Xargon, Killoblaster, Major Stryker, Mutant Space Bats of Doom, Astrofire, Blake Stone, Catacomb Abyss, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, the Epic pinball games, Dune 2... Erm, I think that's all the ones I played frequently. Not sure if all those were made before Doom. Those were the games I played before I got into Doom though. I'm sure Jazz Jackrabbit and Hous Pocus were made afterwards but they'd be on that list too. Other Commadore 64 games I played were: Save New York, Impossible Mission, Congo Bongo, Shamus 1+2, Pitfall, Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Centipede, Donkey Kong, some Sesame Street game, and a few others that I can barely recall. Heh, I remember one game where you started out piloting a plane out of a hanger. I could never make it out of the hangar. :( 0 Share this post Link to post

Kid Airbag Posted December 9, 2004 Janizdreg said:Secret Agent & Crystal Caves YES. See, you people fail to realize that I was stuck on a 486 until around 2000. I don't think this thread would be complete without a mention of Bio-Menace, either. The one thing I remember about that game, besides the guy having a mullet, is how ridiculously happy the music always was. Although, I suppose if you really want me to be serious, I honestly did love the Space Quest series. The fourth one used to crash all the time though, which pissed me off. Finally, I need to mention the greatest SNES game ever that's not called Super Mario World or Out of This World: NHLPA HOCKEY 1993. The best part was the glitch where if you went around the back of the net, the goalie would get stuck momentarily so you had like two seconds to take a completely wide open shot. 0 Share this post Link to post

That never really went away in the rest of the 16bit NHL9x games...heh That, and backhand shots from the bottom left portion of the bottom right circle...and wrist shots from the top right of the top left circle 0 Share this post Link to post

I actualy own a copy of that game, though sadly I cannot play it because there is a serious coding error in that game that makes it run too fast on a Pentium or faster machine. It is apparntly unfixable by any slowdown programs too. The big problem with this is that there are many timing-sensitive things in that game (such as the cyborg patrols at the beginning) that will kill you right off the bat with these glitches. :( 0 Share this post Link to post
