SteelPH Posted February 8, 2005 http://www.townhall.com/news/politics/200501/POL20050128a.shtml"A bill encouraging women and girls to go topless at California beaches and parks could be introduced this week in the California Legislature," a conservative group is warning. This is absurd. I am appauled they would try to pass a bill to encourage this. As if women are treated as sex objects enough as it is, this would only make things worse. 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted February 8, 2005 "This is the only thing left that men are legally allowed to do and, for women, they have to register as a sex offender. The real issue is there should be equal protection under the law," Interesting argument. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted February 8, 2005 Hey, women want it so let them have it and everybody's happy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted February 8, 2005 Fucking terrible idea, the % of women who I would actually want to see topless at the beach is much less than 50%. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted February 8, 2005 I'm sure people aren't lining up like mad to take advantage of a change in a law (see Psyonisis's post) and it's ridiculous that women have to register as sex offenders for simply being topless. If there is someone nasty that's topless, don't look! Either this proposal should pass or men with man boobs should be prosecuted for being topless. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fredrik Posted February 8, 2005 I agree. However, men with sexy, muscular, well-oiled chests must NOT be prosecuted. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jonathan Posted February 9, 2005 There are good reasons for modesty laws, Thomasson said -- "to protect the innocence of women and girls ..." Won't somebody please think of the women!? 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkhaven Posted February 9, 2005 I don't get what's so damn outrageous about this! HAVE WE ALL NOT SEEN THIS WHEN WE WERE 13 OR SLIGHTLY OLDER?! 0 Share this post Link to post
Infinite Ammunition Posted February 9, 2005 i may or may not support this depending on the chicks who would make use of it 0 Share this post Link to post

Ultraviolet Posted February 9, 2005 These pansy ass conservative fucks claiming that seeing tits at the beach has something to do with the integrity of society and the family unit is total bullshit. Know what? I've found my dad's porn before, and he hasn't cheated on my mother and doesn't love her any less. I've looked at porn and not raped my mother or sister yet either! My family is just fine, and I constantly bombard myself with pictures of tits on the Internet. How exactly is seeing them on a beach going to change anything? On the "young boys" argument, how the hell is seeing them between the time you're fed by your own mother's and the time you first have sex going to make you start objectifying women or something stupid like that? If anything, being thought a totally natural thing will prevent objectification moreso than this supposed "modesty." Also, going "lol stupid democrats" (see near end of article) at the issue is NOT helping the Republicans to seem like "uniters not dividers" as Dumbass Dubya would like us to think. Fucking constant contradiction on their political rhetoric. I just don't fucking get it. These politicians go "omg terrible role model god hates it god hates fags and tits and sex" and everybody just nods their heads and follows. Morons. 0 Share this post Link to post

Darkhaven Posted February 9, 2005 What? No, I meant, I'm sure more than one of us has gone through a phase where we look for shitty porn sites and leech off of their preview videos. So in that sense, this won't effect the children, lololooo 0 Share this post Link to post

SyntherAugustus Posted February 9, 2005 Uhh there's a topless beach near Long Island here... Don't tell me you've never been to a nude beach before! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted February 9, 2005 I dont care. Why? a) No one will do it. b) If women want to be treated like sex objects fine. I'm not spearheading the Feminist movemone, and could give less of shit how many years it's set back. c) Children will see boobs eventually. And you'll run out of excuses and be forced to give them "the talk" sometime. d) Breasts are different than say a penis or vagina. They are in many cultures accepted and not shunned. If they were trying to pass a law saying women and men could not wear bottoms, then it would be slightly different, but breasts are a taboo which should not be. Oh yeah, I think it should be 18yrs+ though, because its child abuse would probably skyrocket. However if somehow our society was able to get past everything like that also, I'm for it for any age. But that wont happen for a while, so I'm not. 0 Share this post Link to post
gatewatcher Posted February 9, 2005 So you don't plan on molesting women until you turn 18? 0 Share this post Link to post
Job Posted February 9, 2005 If you try to de-sexualize breasts, you may actually contribute to the deconstruction of women as sex objects. People want what they can't have. But when men/lesbians see those floppy milk bags just as often as the mid-back or the knees, they'll get tired of them within a fairly short period of time. Consider this example: Response to boobs at this moment: "OMG boobs!" Response to boobs after the passing of this legislation: "Heh, boobs." Response to boobs several months after the passing of this legislation: "Huh? Oh yeah...boobs." *yawn* 0 Share this post Link to post

AndrewB Posted February 9, 2005 This reminds me of the time that Betty and Veronica, while going on a nice boat-picnic, were shocked as they ran into a nudist beach. This was considered to be one of the most risqué moments in the comic's history. 0 Share this post Link to post
Quast Posted February 9, 2005 There are good reasons for modesty laws, Thomasson said -- "to protect the innocence of women and girls and to promote a decent society supportive of children and families." Do we really need laws in place that "protect our innocence"? I mean wtf? how many 16+ year old females are "innocent" the way it is? 0 Share this post Link to post

(You know, "I'm a leg man," etc.) They just won't be forbidden fruit anymore -- still fruit. It's that they consider tits to be some kind of corrupting influence. If shit like this continues they'll get parents to start neutering their children at birth to prevent "sin." 0 Share this post Link to post
