sirjuddington Posted February 15, 2005 I've uploaded a new version of my editor, SLADE, if anyone's interested. This time I've also included the source. Oh and I setup a free forum for it too. http://mancubus.net/~slayer/slade 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted February 15, 2005 Exciting. It's too bad everybody's already all set on Doombuilder. :P Keep on truckin' and such, and I'm sure you'll have some feature ideas to make your editor stand out. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kaiser Posted February 15, 2005 I am not confortable with Doom Builder, but being a former Deth user I'll give Slade a try ^_^ 0 Share this post Link to post
Tormentor667 Posted February 15, 2005 Do you have an example screenshot for 3D preview? 0 Share this post Link to post
larsboy Posted February 15, 2005 It sounds really promising. A better 3D mode than DB, with support for slopes, would be great! 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted February 15, 2005 This could be great. It's a bit slow for me but I suppose that can be addressed in the future. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted February 15, 2005 an editor that works like Doom3Radiant would be nice. :p 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted February 16, 2005 Heh well actually I have a few features in mind that will set it apart from Doom Builder ;) Especially some things to do with ZDoomGL, like recognizing the HIRESTEX lump, so it'll handle custom hires/32bit textures properly... And yeah I know it's a bit slow, but I'm not sure if it's something I can help (OpenGL doesn't seem to be extra fast at drawing lines and such, so it runs quite slow on old video cards). And the 3d mode is slow because it's drawing the entire map every frame :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted February 16, 2005 Are you redrawing the whole thing whenever the mouse is moved? (I hope not) 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted February 16, 2005 Actually I am, I'll look into correcting that though :P 0 Share this post Link to post
andrewj Posted February 17, 2005 It would be great if the source code was in ZIP format instead of the RAR format, as I cannot find a unRAR program for my system (Linux/PPC). 0 Share this post Link to post
sirjuddington Posted February 17, 2005 There's no RAR unpacker for linux? Well guess I'll use zips for the source from now on. http://mancubus.net/~slayer/slade/files/slade_03_src.zip 0 Share this post Link to post

Linux runs on many different cpus, mine is PowerPC (an iBook laptop). Anyway, I wish you good luck with it. 0 Share this post Link to post
