Spray Posted March 1, 2005 What, in your experience, is the best defrag program? I know Diskeeper is good, but my trial just expired and I really don't feel like paying 20 or so bucks just to keep using it. (yeah, I'm cheap) Are there superior programs out there? 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted March 1, 2005 I don't know if it's superior to Diskeeper, but there's O&O Defrag 2000 Free. 0 Share this post Link to post

Relica Religia Posted March 2, 2005 Yeah, no kidding. Are fragmented files killing your computer efficiency that the Windows version can't save your machine? 0 Share this post Link to post
Spray Posted March 2, 2005 Because the one that comes with windows takes over an hour to even get past 1% done, that's why. 0 Share this post Link to post

exl Posted March 2, 2005 Also the Windows 98 Defrag program is best run in Safe Mode without anything else running. And it still sucks due to it being incredibly slow. The NT and up one is a LOT better, and can actually defrag your ~40Gb drive in a few runs within 8 hours. 0 Share this post Link to post
Chow Yun Thin Posted March 2, 2005 I've used the DIRMS (Do It Right Microsoft) defragmentation program for some time. It's very bare-bones but it gets the job done and when I check the hard drive using the WinXP defrag program (which looks an awful lot like Diskeeper) DIRMS does a better job than the default WinXP defrag program. http://www.dirms.com 0 Share this post Link to post

If windows takes more than an hour to get past 1%, so will something else. There's something wrong with your computer, not your OS. Stop going to porn sites! 0 Share this post Link to post
