Opulent Posted March 12, 2005 cool. I saw those in incoming, but I didn't know who had done them... should've known it wouldn't have taken many guesses. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
RamboBones Posted March 13, 2005 I have to ask this but how do I access the CompeteN incoming folder to download those replays? The competen ftp, as far as I can tell, has been down for months since neither me nor any of my friends have been able to access it. Does anybody have any advice? Since I'd really like to download those replays. 0 Share this post Link to post
RamboBones Posted March 13, 2005 myk said:How is it down? Anyway, wow! It is down because it says 'Operation timed out when trying to access ftp://competn.doom2.net:8002/pub/' And it's been doing that for months and all my friends get exactly the same error 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted March 13, 2005 It works fine. Make sure FTP is enabled and port 8002 isn't blocked. 0 Share this post Link to post
Opulent Posted March 13, 2005 They also run a webserver: http://competn.doom2.net/pub/ which is very useful. 0 Share this post Link to post

Opulent Posted March 13, 2005 then you or your ISP is blocking that address. (or the destination is blocking you, but I doubt that in this case) 0 Share this post Link to post
DOOM Anomaly Posted March 13, 2005 Just finished watching them. That's awesome. :D Superly fast and all the mazey parts and stuff memorized. :D 0 Share this post Link to post
Searcher Posted March 13, 2005 Sounds like you may have spyware or virus files on your system. you might check that out. Or you could try a different browser, Mozilla Firefox for example. http://www.mozilla.org/ Firefox is 4.7 meg. RamboBones said:Still says the operation is timing out. 0 Share this post Link to post
RamboBones Posted March 14, 2005 Firefox is my default browser, I did try Opera and internet explorer and I've even tried sending my connection through a tor proxy. I just don't understand it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Schneelocke Posted March 14, 2005 RamboBones said:Firefox is my default browser, I did try Opera and internet explorer and I've even tried sending my connection through a tor proxy. I just don't understand it. Try a different DNS server, maybe (like one from OpenNIC)? 0 Share this post Link to post
Searcher Posted March 14, 2005 It might well be a DNS issue. You can flush the DNS cache like this: flushing your dns cache. Go to start/run/ type cmd type ipconfig /flushdns type exit Reboot. Then try that. Or come visit me over here for a more in depth look, so I don't hijack this thread. http://forums.thatcomputerguy.us/index.php?showforum=39 edit:typo 0 Share this post Link to post
Vile Posted March 14, 2005 Interesting news from Bahdko, having talked to Adam recently... it appears that work on an update to compet-n is half done and will be appearing before the end of the month. I never thought it would happen. 0 Share this post Link to post

VinceDSS Posted March 15, 2005 I wonder if we could revive the Public Dang contests... ? Because if we get only one update a year it means only one contest a year :) 0 Share this post Link to post
