Ismaele Posted September 22, 2005 The first episode of the "Italian DooM" project, "The Lost Colony", made by the so-called "Italian Team" (me - Ismaele, Toranaga, Buzzbomber), is near to its completion and here are some screenshots, taken from various levels of the .WAD: 1) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/map01_4.png 2) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/zss4_2.png 3) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/zmap02_2.png 4) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/zmap01_2.png 5) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/ztt5_1.png 6) http://utenti.lycos.it/ismaele85/map02_2.png Read more about the project at "Outpost of Doom 2": http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag... and remember that the final work can be different from what the screenshots show. 0 Share this post Link to post
Vegeta Posted September 22, 2005 "che vuoi?" Nice screens btw, I'd add some detail on floor and ceilings in some of the shots.. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted September 22, 2005 Thanks for your comments, Vegeta! :) I am waiting for more feedback! 0 Share this post Link to post
Xanthier Posted September 22, 2005 Nice...but must you quote all those images? EDIT: nm, you fixed it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted September 22, 2005 He, he! :D That was an error, I fixed! 0 Share this post Link to post
Sporku Posted September 22, 2005 Screenshots are too large.. but they do look very nice. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guardian Posted September 22, 2005 I've always enjoyed a level that has a 'balance' between human technology and demonic invasion. So the third screenshot you offer gets me excited. Is the .WAD available now, and if so, which port is best? 0 Share this post Link to post
Vegeta Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah I didn't though about the familiarity with Evilution. Seems very promising. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ismaele Posted September 23, 2005 Yeah! "Italian DooM - Episodio 1: The Lost Colony" is very near to its completion... :) ...and just today I have merged all the maps and resources in one .WAD! Now it's testing time and all the team (i.e. me, Toranaga and Buzzbomber) are going to test it and, if necessary, modify something. You will be able to download the .WAD from my site ("Outpost of Doom 2": http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag, where you can find more info and screenshots) before the end of September - that's sure! ;) P.S.: The .WAD is for ZDoom only: you need versions higher than 2.0.63, to play it correctly; I myself am testing it with ZDoom 2.0.96. 0 Share this post Link to post
Nightmare Doom Posted September 23, 2005 Italain Doom would make Lucio Fulci proud http://www.horrordirectors.com/LucioFulci/lf2.jpg 0 Share this post Link to post
jetflock Posted September 24, 2005 i like the way you use flats in sectors(not to mention textures). nice art. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted September 24, 2005 @ jetflock: what do you mean with "the way you use flats in sectors(not to mention textures)"?! :o 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted September 30, 2005 "Italian DooM - Episode 1: The Lost Colony" has been officially released and now you can download it from "Outpost of DooM 2", http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag. Play it now for a never seen before experience! 0 Share this post Link to post
Killionaire Posted October 1, 2005 Is it made to be played with jump enabled or disabled? I've been playing it for about a half hour, still on map 1, good stuff, its pretty hard for me (even on hurt me plenty), those damn traps keep getting me. Lot of fun though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 1, 2005 Jumping is allowed! In fact, you can't avoid any puzzle by jumping... everything was made so that you need to solve them in the right way, with no short cut! So jumping is not strictly necessary, but you can reach some secrets by jumping. 0 Share this post Link to post
Quast Posted October 1, 2005 Looks really nice, I like it. edit: getting errors when I try to download it :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 1, 2005 Downloading problems have been solved! :) Now you can download the .WAD from "Outpost of Doom 2" (http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag)! Lycos sucks! :-( This is why I moved my site on an Italian web-space. I tried to exploit my old Lycos web-space as a "dump"... he, he! =D ...but unfortunately they noticed it... :-[ ...so they blocked the downstream, unless you download files from my old web-site, that isn't there any more! :-P However, I put the .ZIP file with the .WAD on my web-space and all links now work correctly. So now you can download it freely without any problem! Anyway, if you still had problems, I'd like you to let me know... I would try to solve them again. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

sausage Posted October 2, 2005 that cage has a never-ending supply of caco's!?! i looked at it in zdoom and went in the cage with iddqd on and looked at the automap and the monster count just goes up and up! - sausage 0 Share this post Link to post
Killionaire Posted October 2, 2005 The idea is to run into the square teleporter in the middle of the room. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 2, 2005 Yeah! You are right: the script of the finale of the first map never ends and teleports continuously Cacodemons (every 5 seconds... if I am not wrong!). You'd better reach the central teleport and go to the first level, before Cacos fill the room...! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
RICH-WADS Posted October 3, 2005 nice wad!!!!!! maybe when the world of electronics advance into people being actually there like an extreme upgraded version of virtual reality 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 8, 2005 Since several people encountered some problems with some puzzles (especially that of the "power generator" in map03), mainly related to old ZDoom versions (older than 2.0.96) and ACS Scripts compatibility, my team is going to fix everything, so that the .WAD works fine with all ZDoom versions higher than 2.0.63a! So... have you played the .WAD, in the meanwhile? What do you think of it? Do you like it?! ;) Please let us know your opinion, send us all your feedback, comments and suggestions, so that we can improve and make a 2nd episode, that is better than the first one. :) By the way, the "Italian Team" is already planning "Italian DooM - Episode 2"! ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Killionaire Posted October 9, 2005 I thought it was great, it's nice scripting and effects like that which prevent me from getting burnt out on this game. One thing i've always liked more are the mods (PWADs or whatever you call them) that allow jumping, don't know why just think its cool. Personally, I loved the music, thought it fit well with everything. I'd still be playing it but A. I reformatted my computer and have yet to download it again, and 2. I don't think the power generator thing worked for me (I was using GZDoom, but i thought it was based on a version of zdoom much later than .63). But the first 2 levels and the part of level 3 i got too i thought were phenomenal, im surprised more people haven't replied about it to be honest. Keep up the good work man, and extend my gratitude to the rest of the Italian team. I'm eagerly anticipating your next episode, and finishing up the majority of the first! 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 9, 2005 Thanks for your comments, Killionaire! :) I am glad to know that you like "Italian DooM - Episode 1: The Lost Colony"! =) Finish it and let me know what you think about all maps, what your favourite is, what can be improved and such (graphics, gameplay, difficulty, etc.). ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Ismaele Posted October 29, 2005 "The Italian Team" has fixed some bugs in "Italian DooM - Episode 1: The Lost Colony", like a ZDoom compatiblity problem (now the .WAD works correctly with every ZDoom version higher than 2.0.63a, so that the problem related to the "generator puzzle" of the 3rd level has been solved) and other minor enhancements, regarding texture misalignments and gameplay imperfections. The new .WAD file has been uploaded on "Outpost of Doom 2" (http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag) and is going to be uploaded also on the archives. 0 Share this post Link to post
