Doom logo (not what you think)

There's a crust band called Doom that's been around since the late 80's, whose logo bears an eerie resemblance to the game of the same name...

Yeah, I recall this's been discussed before. Perhaps Don Punchatz (the guy who reputably made the game logo) did it on purpose...

EDIT: Okay, I see now. I actually misread that comment.

Never heard from the band doom before, but the logo looks alot like the game logo.
Perhaps they used it as an example, what kind of music do they make.

This came up about a year ago. Doom has been out before the game and the logo for the game was done by an artist that befriended id. Can't remember his name however. I think its all coincidence. Doom the band is pretty good. I wish these crust bands would make it more mainstream.

Well, if you're not familiar with the genre known as "crust," it's essentially hardcore punk, but usually noisier and more aggressive from what I can tell. There might be a bit of thrash going on too. Doom seems to take influence from Discharge, if you're at all familiar with them.

In other words, crust = crumby.
