Just called "Pain" for lack of a better name. It's my envisionment of what Hell really is, with some slight inspiration (and music) from Painkiller.

THE WAD

THIS WAD IS MEANT FOR ZDOOM 2.0.63a. GZDOOM AND MOST OTHER VERSIONS OF ZDOOM WILL PROBABLY FAIL TO PLAY IT.

You either linked incorrectly or that file hosting site sucks, because it asks for a member ID just to look at the pictures (or get the zip.)

Pain was the name of Fredrik's standard DOOM II project; the one from where many of Scythe's extra resources came from, if I'm not mistaken.

That looks good, no doubt about it.
I've never learned how to build curved bridges since WinDEU isn't compatible with ZDOOM features. So I envy what I saw in that first screenshot...

But what about our long-awaited X-DOOM project?!?

You need to use Doombuilder, for sure. WinDEU gave me nightmares when I first started to map with it (exits randomly in the middle of my map construction).

Actually I'm pretty comfortable with WinDEU, in fact, alot of XDoom was constructed using it, including DarkJedi's map (E2M5) and pretty much all of E1. That leads me to point out that WinDEU was also used on quite alot of Pain (the one in this thread, not Fredrik's) before it was converted to Hexen format...

so why not fix your wad to use the most current version of zdoom? i dont see many people using a buggy version just to play this

I didn't actually think .63a was an old version, since everyone's still waiting for .64 yet there's a .96 and all that shit... And if GZDoom just doesn't run it, it shouldn't be that much of a problem to re-download something that isn't even 1MB IIRC. Besides, the map only uses some basic ZDoom features (slopes, Sector_SetColor(), some Light_Fade() effects for the lightning), I have no idea why GZDoom and "later" versions of ZDoom wouldn't run it.

Really sorry for double-posting, but the map's been (heavily) updated. Includes a new "Suicide Forest" area that scared the shit out of my beta tester.

EDIT: NOBODY is interested in this map in the least? :(
