Recommended Posts

Hej

I'm new in this forum. I want to play DOOM1 & 2 again, but I nedd better mouse control. Does anyone know a tool to make changes to the mouse control?

I had many many great ours with DOOM! 1994 - 1999.

Better how? You mean more options than in the standard game? Many released source based Doom engines (JDoom, ZDoom, Eternity, etc.) have mouselook and bindable keys and buttons.

better no - different.

I use the arrow keys for my left hand - esspecially left and right strafe.

ps. I thought I was a dinosaur - like to play the good old DOOM1 & 2. :o)

Doom3 does not have the same feel for me.

That would leave the number keys (used for changing weapons in Doom) pretty far away. You might want to try PrBoom 2.2.6 or ZDoom (both are for DOOM and DOOM II) that let you bind the keys anywhere, in the latter case even allowing you to set a key or button to cycle through the available weapon choices. A few other engines have similar key bindings.

That's okay; this forum here is Jurassic Park.

Well if better mouse control is what you want, most source ports have an option to turn on mouse look, which I love. Didn't like it at first, but Quake 2 made me get used to it. I'd recommend zdoom for that, it also has a pantsload of other options, like increasing the resolution, rebinding your keys, lots of other stuff as well. Jdoom is pretty decent too, it uses your 3D card, some people don't like it since it blurs things to make them smoother, but it's kind of cool.

My favorite source port

Jdoom

There's a pretty nice source ports section on this site too.

And welcome back to Doom. Enjoy your stay.
