Louigi Verona Posted March 20, 2006 River City http://www.dimlight.net/music/louigi/river.zip This is quite a good level which is interesting to explore since you can get to EVERY place you see. Please, play it on a normal Hurt Me Plenty setting. Some ppl end up telling me that the level is too hard while playing in Ultra Violence and with fast monsters... Also, the level was designed for original Doom2, so no jumping, crawling or any other Doom port trick is allowed :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Lutrov71 Posted March 20, 2006 Ah, very nice level, had a great old-school feel to it. I really enjoyed playing it. Good fun! :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Siggi Posted March 20, 2006 This map is fun to play. The look of the map was kinda nostalgic for me, although it's nots the best looking map ever with several texture misaligns and so on. Still, it was enjoyable, and that's something I like most in maps. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mivalekan Posted March 21, 2006 Wow, very oldschool. Enjoyable nonetheless. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted March 21, 2006 A pretty good map, with nice solid construction of the environment. Not especially hard though, especially if you play carefully. I exited with a big ammo surplus (playing on UV), and suffered few low health moments along the way. If you gave the player a berserk (either early on instead of the chainsaw, or later on in addition to it), it would be a nice map for Tyson. 0 Share this post Link to post
Louigi Verona Posted March 21, 2006 Hey, guys! Thanks for the feedback! Wanted to comment some things. 1. Texture misalignments: hmm... I'm usually very careful at those... Where did you spot the misalignments? Sure they weren't intentional? If not, I'll correct them. 2. Playing carefully: yes, if you play carefully, this level is okay. But that is the whole point - to play it carefully. Usually people don't and end up with no ammo, hehe :) 0 Share this post Link to post
shotgunmasacre2 Posted March 21, 2006 Great map! This was certainly an enjoyable experience, I loved the gameplay. the map wasnt to hard but in the opening parts the layer had to fight to get their shotgun. The areitechture wasnt supremely detailed but was grand on scale. There were a few things to nitpick about, but I dont give much care to these things. For a first map(it was your first right?) you had a good showing. And the one thing that you nailed was the gameplay. To me, a wad with bad detail and excellent gameplay is FAR better then a wad with excellent detail and awful gameplay. So pat yourself on the back for the good job and keep making maps. 0 Share this post Link to post
Louigi Verona Posted March 21, 2006 Thx! Nah, it's not my first map. But all in all, I've made only about 5-6 maps worth releasing at all. I hope to share them with you :) And I'll keep on mapping for sure - everybodies comments are very useful and inspiring! 0 Share this post Link to post
RjY Posted March 22, 2006 Can you make your monster teleporters go off faster, and also adjust the monster balance so that you're not almost overwhelmed at the start only to be left with piles of ammo and hardly anything to use it on after the blue key or thereabouts? Apart from that it was really good, nice open design, foreshadowing, glimpses of future areas you don't immediately have access to, all that good stuff 0 Share this post Link to post
Louigi Verona Posted March 24, 2006 hmm. you know, funny enough, but perhaps I am not such a good player. I lack ammo to the last minute :D Maybe one of you, guys, could record a demo. If it is good, I will supply it with an archive of the level. Also: did anyone open all secrets? Did anyone get the rocket launcher? This is a very fancy thing to do :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Dutch Doomer Posted March 25, 2006 Great map Louigi played it and liked it, some texture misalignments needs to be fixed. Gameplay was rather good imo, I didn't found the chainsaw until later in the map. Ran straight past it at the start cause I didn't payed attention well enough :p I tried to get an shotgun as soon as possible, died a few times though but thats ok meaning your map isn't too easy which I find a good thing. 0 Share this post Link to post
