Wtf is this?

I was restarting my computer and when it started up this thing wont go away and keeps bringing up different messages about my registry.

You need to disable Windows Messenger Service.

If you've got XP and are struggling to make it bearable, I can recommend taking a look at this page, and implementing many of the things it describes.

and for the love of God don't download that regfixit thing.

A friend of mine kept getting that happening to him too. In case you are in any doubt, it is just spam that gets sent via the messenger service, dressed up to look like a system message. Treat it as you would any other spam - ie steer well clear of it.

Are you fully updated with all the Windows service packs and hot fixes? I am and never get these problems.

The thing that muses me about this is that it's so blatant that it's bullshit: If Windows can detect these errors then why the hell doesn't it fix them?
