Marathon Infinity

Recommended Posts

It's a great Macintosh (series of) game(s) in the likeness of Doom, but I guess some of you know that already, anyway it's free these days (freely downloaded on the net thanks to Bungie!)

To get:
http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/

Alephone (New engine allowing better graphics etc..
http://source.bungie.org/

Other content:
http://fileball.net/marathon/

I myself have known about this offer for months, yet it seems like not too many doomers know about it?!

I must too say that it looks best on the macintosh (since it was made for that), And that Alephone has some bugs, however they all seem to be getting fixed and stuff. (It's a nice port/engine).

I've used Alephone, once upon a time. It's a stable port for a pretty awesome game. My thanks go to Bungie for finally releasing it as freeware.

Great game, could *******LY go for some improved controls, but ya, great game!

Halo is part 3 to this series un-officially.

You can see the Marathon Symbol hidden in the old Halo logo.

Made by Bungie too.

Halo and Marathon are heavily intertwined, but Bungie's FAQ explains that Marathon is not a prequel to Halo.

Having trouble using the word *******ely? :)

I've played the Marathon Trilogy for quite a long time, especially Marathon 2. I actually finished Maration 2 on every difficulty setting.

definitely.

Anyway, I think almost everyone here knows of Marathon already.

I wouldn't be too sure about that though.. maybe a good 33-40% knows about it... But the rest is mostly people who dont give a shit whats on the macintosh due to them thinking its a lame system and computer...

And yeah its a nice game series ;) Only bit too few different monsters? I bet I'm one of the few around here to actually own Marathon 2 Durandal for the pc.. :p
