I always thought most of the weapons would cause some kind of pushback because of the firepower, but that wasn't so because Doom was too old a game to have that happen. The plasma gun doesn't push you back in Doom64, or in Doom 3, but Doom 3 revised a lot of the classic stuff (I think thats a reason why it became less than famous), and nothing really pushes you back in Doom 3, not even the SSG. It doesn't even send your camera flying up, like in Half Life.

This shaking effect is visible in Doom 2 too. Chaingunners seen on certain angles do this when firing.

Cool gif. I'm glad you don't shake that bad in the game; you'd never be able to hit anything--although it would add to the challenge (maybe you could turn it off/on in the options menu).
