I suppose they were technically free already, but you needed HL2 to play either of them. I guess it's like the free invitations they give away for Counter-Strike and such.

I don't know if they'll actually do anything for the GeForce crowd (e.g. myself). I think they're in bed with ATI anyway.

I don't have any problems with Steam. I even uninstalled it and then reinstalled a few months later and it still gave me no issues. So I still don't get what the problem with Steam is. It's not like it stays on your PC permanently.

Yeah, but when I did have it on my computer, for some reason my internet kept disconnecting and reconnecting every 5 minutes, bugging the Hell out of me. After installing and uninstalling various things, I realised it was Steam's fault and had to delete it. I don't know what the fuck that was about. I guess it didn't like my firewall or router.
