Anarkavre Posted December 24, 2007 Doom has once again shown up on another platform, and this time it's a calculator. Doom89 is a clone of Doom powered by the FAT engine. It runs on TI graphing calculator models 89, 92+, and V200. It includes 32 levels, as well as all the abilities and weapons you'd expect. It even includes strafing and the classic menu. This is definitely worth checking out if you have one of the supported calculators. 0 Share this post Link to post
Torn Posted December 24, 2007 Yay, I have a Ti89 :D I guess I should check this stuff out. 0 Share this post Link to post
doom2day Posted December 24, 2007 Fucking 82 ... I really want an 84. I miss my complex numbers. I remember doom being ported to another graphing calculator but at this moment, I do not remember which it was. 0 Share this post Link to post
sLydE Posted December 24, 2007 man, I've been waiting for this forever. Too bad I'm not in High School anymore, with my 89 attached to my hip (not really). Anyway, I'll have to break out the graphlink later and check it out. 0 Share this post Link to post
Csonicgo Posted December 24, 2007 the FAT engine. I've seen this in action, and it's pretty damn smooth. also http://www.ticalc.org/cgi-bin/zipview?89/asm/games/doom89.zip;Source/ZTheta%20Screen/zthetaprogrammingegr7.png ugh. 0 Share this post Link to post
NightmareZer0 Posted December 24, 2007 Makes me wish I had a TI calculator. 0 Share this post Link to post
Reckoner Posted December 24, 2007 I just downloaded this for my 89. It runs very smoothly and the customizable keys are nice. 0 Share this post Link to post
Creaphis Posted December 24, 2007 Aw man, my hand-me-down graphing calculator is an 83... 0 Share this post Link to post
NixBood Posted December 25, 2007 I CAME. I can't wait to try this, I just need to dig out my connector cable and possibly the software, this along with calcrogue aughtta keep me occupied at work :D 0 Share this post Link to post
exp(x) Posted December 25, 2007 Wait, this uses the FAT engine? Unless that engine has changed significantly in the past few years, I can't see this as being any more than doom sprites in a wolf3d-like environment. Are there any screenshots? 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted December 25, 2007 I was wondering about that. I found a screenshot here that does look very Wolfy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Steeveeo Posted December 25, 2007 Is there a version for the Ti-84 plus? Found one for those with the 83 and 83+: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/234/23409.html Looks kinda crappy compared to the 89 version though. Also: http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/238/23842.html Incorrectly marked Doom, as it looks pretty much like Wolf. 0 Share this post Link to post

Would BSP-like rendering be possible for the Motorola processor? 0 Share this post Link to post
exp(x) Posted December 26, 2007 Dunno, but my point is that it shouldn't be called Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
Csonicgo Posted December 26, 2007 If it is any consolation, check this out: http://membres.lycos.fr/jackiechan/bsp.gif This guy here has is working on a BSP engine-- kinda slow but it works. OT: I found a program for the TI-89 that makes its input RPN- Something TI should have included as an option years ago. 0 Share this post Link to post
GGG Posted January 2, 2008 david_a said:I was wondering about that. I found a screenshot here that does look very Wolfy. Well, in the first link's provided screenshots, the doors open Wolf-3D style. And since I haven't used my TI-89 in about five and a half years, I'll likely stick with my Game Boy. (And yeah, major meltfest when I took out the 89's batteries about 3 months ago.) 0 Share this post Link to post

Craigs Posted January 3, 2008 Can't the way the doors open be altered? You know, so they open vertically instead of horizontally? 0 Share this post Link to post
