Mordeth Posted January 2, 2008 Hi, At this (dutch) site you can find a guide that determines how you are positioned in the USA presidential election spectrum. There's an englisch translation avaiable too, so perhaps this is handy for our american friends who are still doubting their choice? It works by posing several statements to you, which you can rate on a scale from 'strongly disagree' to 'neutral' to 'strongly agree'. Please note that this only takes into account what candidates have been saying about their intentions; it does not take into account past behaviour! So see this as one of the tools you can use to determine your choice, and do not take this as your solo source of information. Your most likely candidate is then shown, together with a compatability score for all the other candidates. You can also find it linked from the The Wall Street Journal site; and it's an initiative from the reputable dutch newspaper Volkskrant. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted January 2, 2008 What, a non-cynical post from you about US government? O_o Anyway, I took the English version and it told me "Het spectrum wordt geladen. Een ogenblik geduld a.u.b." o_O 0 Share this post Link to post

darknation Posted January 2, 2008 I don't see hitler on the chart. edit: No, wait, there she is. 0 Share this post Link to post
Texas Libra Posted January 2, 2008 I'm set on Ron Paul, yet this told me I'm closest to Bill Richardson. WTF? 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted January 2, 2008 Closest to Giuliani and furthest from Obama. Closer to the center than all the Republican and Democratic candidates but still lean to the Economic right and social conservatism. 0 Share this post Link to post
GGG Posted January 2, 2008 I'll trust a Dutch site to give me unbiased info on U.S. candidates. And I'm not sure whether I should be sincere or sarcastic with that remark. Texas Libra said:I'm set on Ron Paul. RON PAUL- BECAUSE OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURES AREN'T IMPORTANT 0 Share this post Link to post

Sources are mentioned. Also, click on a candidate's picture to see how your score came about. And any sensible adult will verify sources based on cold hard facts and not, say, ignorant xenophobia... right? :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Bucket Posted January 2, 2008 I thought I'd get Ron Paul, but I got Bill Richardson too. I wonder what's up with that guy. I never thought I'd agree with a Democrat this term; they haven't had a strong candidate since... well, you know.Ralphis said:Closest to Giuliani and furthest from Obama.Let me guess... you answered everything with "9/11"? 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted January 2, 2008 What the fuck? There are no third party candidates. This thing is fail. It put me near Obama, though I like Edwards more. 0 Share this post Link to post
david_a Posted January 2, 2008 Wow. I pretty much pegged the top left corner. No Kucinich? :( 0 Share this post Link to post

Remilia Scarlet Posted January 3, 2008 YMB said:Closest to: Barack Obama Farthest From: Fred Thompson Ditto. I have an 83% agreement with him, apparently, while I'm 3% further left on economic issues than him and 1% more traditional. Back when I was in high school, I remember taking something similar, except that it plotted my overall political viewpoint. I think I was about as far towards socialism as I could be. Not sure where I'd fall now. 0 Share this post Link to post

It's funny for a while, then it gets old, then you realise, "hey, these people are being serious!". Then you cry. Also, I got closest to the centre as could be. but it still says I was "closest" to clinton and furthest from Fred Thompson. Heh. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jello Posted January 3, 2008 Hmm, closest to Rudy, furthest from Barack. Pretty much what I expected, however his policies on gun control are rather far removed from my views. Seems like I'm second closest to Ron Paul. Fun little quiz. about 6 notches to the right of 0, and 3 down. Damn, just retook it for kicks, and I'm slightly closer to Ron Paul now. Guess I better go google him now... *fixed the *closet* to *closest* regarding Ron Paul 0 Share this post Link to post

Technician Posted January 3, 2008 Bill Richardson? Wow I support the democrats. Now I know who to vote for. Hey wait a minute...I'm Canadian, heh, almost forgot. I guess I should update my avatar and take the flag off the wall. HEY! I don't support Maxrism. Now I have to scrape off that damn bumper sticker. Fuck! Goddamn tattoo. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted January 3, 2008 GGG said:RON PAUL- BECAUSE OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURES AREN'T IMPORTANT No, because he isn't riding any paranoia bandwagons, that's all. Overall, I still don't see any candidate I'd actually favor for a vote, so I'll probably go with the one I have the least disagreements with. Again.Technician said:Bill Richardson? myk Posted January 3, 2008 And dear God that is the ugliest fish I have ever seen. Well, if that's whose face it seems to be, it redeems any fishy ugliness. Jello said: Seems like I'm second closet to Ron Paul. You're not in the clost anymore if you mention it openly. Ron Paul is strange. Were I American I'd dislike many his ideas openly, but being a foreigner maybe a president of the US like him would do more good than harm to the world, when compared to most of the other choices, at least. 0 Share this post Link to post

Haha, I doubt I'd place that far these days, though that one got me pretty close. 0 Share this post Link to post
Enjay Posted January 3, 2008 YMB said:Closest to: Barack Obama Farthest From: Fred Thompson Likewise. Too many questions which required more subtlety than a simple scale of agreement. But hey, I'll not be voting in the US elections anyway, just putting up with the consequences of the result. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cupboard Posted January 4, 2008 Almost spon on with Obama. Unfortunately I will not be able to vote in this election. D: 0 Share this post Link to post
