i dont know how to take pictures in doom

Depending on which source port you use, usually it's the <Prt/Sc> button. If you use the original Doom for MS-DOS, start with the -devparm parameter and press <F1>.

Not a bad idea, but it definitely needs work. Maybe in the next version you could try and make the map look more like a Roman coliseum or an arena of some kind?

With Doomsday you can bind a key to a screenshot as in most other port's.

In 1.9 beta5 it's on the last page of the control's menu.

in 1.8.6 you have to use the console to bind a key with "bind <whatever key> screenshot"

Assuming you have Doomsday properly installed-

  • Run the Frontend and start a game.
  • Hit "Escape" to bring up the menu
  • Select "Options"
  • Select "Controls"
  • Right-arrow to the last page
  • Select "Screenshot:"
  • Press the key you want to use
  • Hit "Escape" to return to the game
  • Take a screenshot
I used the "Print Screen" key and found the screenshot sitting in the clipboard.
Paste it into Windows Paint or Irfanview (or whatever) and save it.

Doomsday doesn't display a message on screen when you take a screenshot.

Though if you check the console, it tell's you that you have taken one.

They are TGA format and placed in "Run/J<game>".

You might need to find a freeware viewer for TGA images somewhere on the net.

Heh, yeah. Dday places the TGA's where it places the cfg files, which depends on the launcher used.

For the old Kickstart it's "Run/J<game>" and for Snowberry it's "Snowberry/Runtime".
