40oz Posted June 2, 2008 I know girls in strip clubs, and stars of XXX movies make money, but what about the thousands of amateurs that are littered all over sites that are free and always available? Are the photographers and videographers making money posting that stuff up for free? What about the girls posing for the pictures and videos? Where's the income come from? 0 Share this post Link to post
Snarboo Posted June 2, 2008 They have to be receiving some form of compensation, otherwise I don't see a reason for anyone to engage in it, professional or not. 0 Share this post Link to post
Inferno Posted June 2, 2008 ^This. Seriously though the only reason to be involved in this sort of thing is to recieve some profit. I assume for amatures, however, that the profit is pretty shitty. It probably isnt their only job. It doesent take an education to go about fucking other people. 0 Share this post Link to post
skadoomer Posted June 2, 2008 I had a buddy that worked in porn for a while. Depending on what state you work for, your payed by the video or by the shoot. California appearently is the place to work if your a guy while the east coast i'm told is always looking for girls. As for amateur stuff, many of them are told that they are being set up for trial shoots and sign wavers so they don't have to be paid. Hence the term, amateur. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted June 2, 2008 Yah professionally. But the vast majority of cam-whores that little 4chan and countless mass image hosting sites just do it for the gitty thrill. 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted June 2, 2008 Me and some girl (that i met on a _chan, actually) where planning on setting up a half-arsed, non-profit "Suicide boys"* site. I even took some pics of myself that are now hosted on my own webspace, taking up 0.5p of however much i pay for hosting. But we just kind of drifted apart and didnt organise aything properly *-in B4 scummy wankers who posted on that wierd thread a while back with Japanese guy's hairstyles saying "LOL Jap faggots, what an inferior country, we should nuke them again then turn into a Christian version of Saudi Arabia etc etc" 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted June 2, 2008 You can make money that way? I thought they were doing it for the job satisfaction. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Coopersville Posted June 2, 2008 I was casted in an independent zombie movie once. From what I learned, a lot of loser wanna-be directors, including the one I worked for, usually resort to making porn after their crappy projects don't take off. So, amateur pornstars are basicsally indie film actors, at least around here. 0 Share this post Link to post

For most of the chicks they're willing to start anywhere and hope they can suck and fuck their way into a huge production company. There's a nice reality show called webdreams that follows around and chronicles fledging amateurs and pornographers. Some chicks are just like "LOL Paris Hilton did it! Where's teh camera and cock?" Then there's that guy who produces Girls Gone Wild who got the brilliant idea to get them really hammered and sign the waiver forms before shooting. Alot of productions nowadays are being shot in Eastern European countries. The women are just as gorgeous and you don't have to pay them as much. Then there's the cases where the director grabs the North American talent and shoots in Budapest for alot less money. skadoomer said:California appearently is the place to work Porn tax might kill the industry. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3323984 As for California being a great place to work if your a guy, most likely if you're gay. It's quite cliquey with the established male talent in the st8 porn, have special requirements, and make less then the female starlets. 0 Share this post Link to post

Wow, so most of the chicks we fap to were just poor teens and milfs that felt they could make a quick buck and most likely it was a scam to get them to flash their boobs? Poor titties- err I mean girls. 0 Share this post Link to post
deathbringer Posted June 3, 2008 I knew a guy who did some (gay, but on top) porn once and said it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. You know how they change angle in porn? they only have one camera, so you have to stop and yet remain hard while they move it about and re-set-up the lighting etc. And even then it looks stupid and i rarely fap to that kind anyway and actually prefer webcam or "three people" (two in bed, a third with a DV camera hovering around) stuff anyway, but there's certianly less money in that than in the "real thing". I was casted in an independent zombie movie once. From what I learned, a lot of loser wanna-be directors, including the one I worked for, usually resort to making porn after their crappy projects don't take off. So, amateur pornstars are basicsally indie film actors, at least around here. Some other girls i was gonna help to make a porn film (they both got chav boyfriends in the end) with once, i gradually talked into including more and more horror. Until it was basically a re-make of "Prey" with slightly more sex. I also wanted to film a zombie movie with one or two sex scenes but the girl who was gonna be in it persuaded me to add more and more. However she lived in Wales and the lead guy was actually gay and moved to London, so that didnt come off, surprise surprise. 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted June 3, 2008 I've never been in porn but I volunteered to be in my roommates experimental film where I was in boxers 90% of the time. The other 10% or so is a flashback of shots with this girl all over me in bed but the twist is I can't get it up (no nudity/hardcore though). In the end of the film it turns out I'm gay. It was done fully with still pictures, no actual video. Anyway, yeah, the scenes with the girl were a bit awkward (but not really) because I knew her and we're good friends. So that made it awkward but less awkward at the same time. However I can attest for the awkwardness of holding awkward positions for minutes on end as lighting is adjusted, etc. Whatever, it was fun anyway, and girls come up to me who've seen it saying they recognize me from it and giggling. 0 Share this post Link to post

Eaxctly. Gotta love them typos. Coopersville said:I don't want to sound like the resident porno freak, but the other technique is a more consistant shoot with two or more cameras, and they just recycle the different angles as separate scenes to make the video longer. Even with non pornographic film the multi camera setup is relatively standard. Budget permitting of course for additional camera(s) and cinematographer(s). Porn scenes generally are lit and shot all position based. For each position it's more or less: Master shot: Establishing shot of all actors in view. Close ups: For capturing all those porno faces on SA and felatio. Inserts: For close up genitalia action. In tradition film it's meaning isn't as literal. There's actually more to it then just those three but the topic of camera shots, angles, and lighting is a vast lengthy topic worthy of it's own thread. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted June 4, 2008 You know, before I die I would like to at least one low budget porno. Just one of those things I guess. 0 Share this post Link to post

Snarboo Posted June 4, 2008 Megaz said:Do you reckon low-budget Porno directors even check their Stars for STDs? (STIs if you wanna be all modern and fancy) Most likely yes, even if you're only considering profit. It's hard to be on time and produce a good porno if your star actor is out with the clap. Then there are aesthetics to consider. Warts aren't pretty! Even diseases that take time, such as AIDS, are dangerous because it can infect all of your actors. Then again, that's only if you plan on using the same actor for 20 years or so, which rarely happens. It's possible in softcore productions where they don't show penetration that they use condoms, or there is no penetration at all. That said, a lot of actors do end up getting STIs. There have been quite a few pornstars who have died from AIDS, too. 0 Share this post Link to post

That was mostly in the 80s when people didn't know what the Hell AIDS was. Since then, the industry has been extremely regulated in regard to monitoring STDs. There was an incident a couple years back where some porn star did a shoot in Brazil where he got AIDS and spread it around a bit in the States before they caught it. It was HUGE news, even outside the industry because it hadn't happened in over a decade. 0 Share this post Link to post

The topic came to mind when this 15 year old girl on my bus was talking about how she quit her job but she doesn't know where she'll find another one. She jokingly remarked that she'll probably just end up making pornos. I was positive that there were professionals who make a real living off that stuff, but I just wondered if all of the girls on the internet are making a living off that stuff too, even when they are able to be viewed for free. 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted June 8, 2008 I've known quite a few girls that have their own sites. Trisha = She's a former playboy playmate / perfect 10 model. The company that originally did her website and took her money never gave her the cut she was owed. She went to another company and had her "regulars" guys she'd actually talk to via the site that would join month after month. Dafne / Noel / Tiny Kitty = made lots of money up front. Then her company said her sales were nill. Turns out the company was kind of back stabbing her and giving it away for free cause they didn't like her. She went with another company and made a mint. Ashley = Just met her on a dating site. She finds dudes to be in her porn from dating sites. She says she makes $1,000 a month from subscriptions. My sister = Yeah I'm not kidding. She was a popular chesty club kid that would give her photos to basically anyone that wanted them. Well she was giving photos out to 50 people, so she started a website. A pay website. She made $2,000 a month for 5 years. In fact she stopped updating it 2 of those 5 years, but people were still paying her money. She'd get guys just donating $500 to her for the heck of it. They'd send all sorts of weird stuff to the PO Box. Wanna know the weirdest thing one of them sent... A bucket of sand... how does that make sense? 0 Share this post Link to post
spank Posted June 8, 2008 Funny that you should ask that now that I'm watching that episode of Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends on pornstars. He interviewed a straight guy who had to do gay porn for a start in the career. 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted June 9, 2008 I went to Adultcon last month for my girlfriend's birthday (I'm not kidding, it was her idea). We met a male pornstar that chatted with us for a full 15 minutes and explained his start. He was a cop in Los Angeles, and got offered a porn roll for being "a good looking nice guy." He said the women liked him more than he wanted to do porn. Eventually he said, what the heck. Lost his job. What's awkwardly fun for that guy... he does porn with his ex wife still 2 years after divorcing. There was a pretty ugly 18 year old guy that asked the male pornstar how to break into the business. It was sad, but the kid was asking him for advice. The porn star told the ugly kid, just be Mr. Nice Guy and the girls will get you in, because they will want to work with you and ask to work with you. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted June 10, 2008 There was a time where I regarded becoming a pornstar as the ultimate in terms of jobs: what other job would enable you to get paid for "getting sum" (for guys at least, and ruling out being a gigolo or a male prostitute)? 0 Share this post Link to post
