Chris Hansen Posted August 4, 2008 I saw over at Darkhorizons that they posted news about the fact that Todd Hollenshead would like to do another Doom movie....the guys at id Software still want another crack at turning the game into a feature.Read more at Darkhorizons or jump directly to the Shacknews article they got their news from. 0 Share this post Link to post
Texas Libra Posted August 5, 2008 Hopefully a remake...or as someone pointed out, the first movie actually took place about 100 years or so before Doom (3), so who knows? They might be able to pull it off and do it right this time while still leaving the first movie's place as "canon" up to the individual viewer. 0 Share this post Link to post
Shin Godzilla Posted August 5, 2008 If they somehow get it right this time (or at least come significantly closer to doing so), I'm game for it. The first Doom movie was kinda fun in its own, B-movie way, but there were quite a few changes from the source material and some missed opportunities that took away from the experience. In my mind, if they make it scarier, and write it so the demons actually come from Hell and aren't just mutants, that would be a good start. I guess we'll see how things go, though. At this point it's too early to say. EDIT: From the article, it really sounds more like conjecture than anything, so this might not even go anywhere. 0 Share this post Link to post
skadoomer Posted August 5, 2008 This one needs Shia LaBeouf to add to The Rock's outstanding performance in the last one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Nuxius Posted August 5, 2008 And Shacknews got it from Kotaku. Anyway, from the Kotaku article: Hollenshead said that Universal still has the rights for the Doom movie and sequels, so the ball is really in their court on whether another is made... ...As the buzz meter starts to go up that may kind of kick start the guys over at Universal. As far as I'm concerned, that says all that needs to be said. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted August 5, 2008 exp(x) said:They should make it a dark comedy. Make it a satire - "National Lampoon goes to Hell". Practically anything would be an improvement on the first movie. I wonder if Hollenshead is angling for a simultaneous game/movie release? 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted August 5, 2008 I wonder what it'll be about this time... 0 Share this post Link to post
chungy Posted August 5, 2008 exp(x) said:They should make it a dark comedy. Needs to be done in this style: Heh, I'd watch it. Of course, the theme has to be "Doomguy! Doomguy! Doomguy!" etc 0 Share this post Link to post

Chris Hansen Posted August 5, 2008 I wholeheartedly agree with Ichor! It needs to be a bloody mess, tons of snappy one-liners, have a huge body count and R rated! 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted August 5, 2008 And Bruce Willis! Milo: You think you are so fucking cool, don't you? You think you are so fucking cool. But just once, I would like to hear you scream in pain... Joe Hallenbeck: Play some rap music. 0 Share this post Link to post
Haloless0320 Posted August 5, 2008 Bruce Willis?I dunno he's getting a little on in his years.Jason Statham would be a good doom guy. 0 Share this post Link to post

FourOhFour Posted August 6, 2008 I'm pretty sure Bruce Campbell should do. His delivery of snappy one-liners is clearly the best. 0 Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted August 6, 2008 Karl Urban did a pretty damn good job being Doom guy if you ask me. Except he looks a little more like FreeDoom guy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ralphis Posted August 6, 2008 Bring the Rock back to life as a good guy 0 Share this post Link to post
40oz Posted August 6, 2008 kristus said:Karl Urban lacks badassiness. I know but the Doom Guy was intended to be you and you aren't badass. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted August 7, 2008 By the way Hollenshead says things, it would be promoting the style in DOOM 4 the way the first roughly showcased DOOM 3's. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cupboard Posted August 7, 2008 They honestly didn't kill enough things the first time around. The half minute zombie rampage scene near the end was cool, but seriously, it took a whole team of marines to kill like 3 demons in the whole movie. Edit: I will revise my statement and say they killed about 3 demons outside the FPS sequence. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kyka Posted August 8, 2008 we could get Hugh Grant to play doomguy. I mean, he would be at least as credible as the Rock. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted August 8, 2008 Karl Urban was good and the Rock wasn't so bad either, the whole movie was pretty good actually. The one thing that completely fucked it all up was leaving out the hell part. It wouldn't surprise me if there isn't going to be an sequel, if I'm not mistaken the first one didn't do so well.So if the first one flopped, the chances of ever getting to see an sequel won't be too good. I sure hope to see an doom 2 movie, only this time with hell included. 0 Share this post Link to post
DeumReaper Posted August 8, 2008 Needs more 1st-person action. To me that was the only thing that made it worth watching at least once. The pinky demon fight with the chainsaw was probably the closest part to Doom3 as it got. 0 Share this post Link to post
Stupid Bunny Posted August 8, 2008 dutch devil said:The one thing that completely fucked it all up was leaving out the hell part. My thoughts exactly. Just what was wrong with the original concept? I'm not sure how much the director realized what removing the Hell aspect did in terms of sucking out the intensity and originality of the game, but my god did that piss me off. If they do another Doom movie and it invents some genetic mutant bullshit or whatever, I don't think I'll see it. 0 Share this post Link to post
