Captain Toenail Posted August 18, 2008 I have fond memories of playing the wads on my Doom maximum CD with Doom95, I want to play some again for nostalgia reasons and I was wondering if you could help we locate this map? The map contained really cool overturned trucks that had scrolling texture wheels, there were lots of nazis about and the level ended with descending into hell, then walking across an invisible bridge and fighting a cyber - I remember being trapped in the cyberdemon room and unable to complete the map. I also seem to remember a large dining table full of zombies and a Vile behind a desk? 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted August 18, 2008 The part with the overturned truck with scrolling wheels sounds very familiar, I played an map with that an couple of times before. One problem is that I can't remember the name of it, but I'm pretty sure that it is the same map you have been playing. If I find it I'll let you know. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted August 18, 2008 uac_dead matches much of what you describe. Note that the cyberdemon bit requires Registered Doom behaviour, rather than Ultimate Doom behaviour. So you need to run it using Doom2.exe instead of Doom.exe, or using a port that allows you to specify Registered Doom behaviour (e.g. prboom-plus with -complevel 2 or chocolate-doom with -gameversion 1.9). 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted August 18, 2008 There is one for doom2 as well and its called uac_dea2.wad. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted August 18, 2008 Sounds like one of those automatically converted ones that plagued Maximum Doom. They were normally broken badly enough as it was, even when there weren't tag issues present. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted August 18, 2008 I just got stuck in the red skullkey room when playing the doom2 version, tag 666 doesn't work on doom2 map01 :p 0 Share this post Link to post
chungy Posted August 19, 2008 i just tried uac_dea2.wad... from the very beginning, something is very wrong. The sky, the music, the chaingunners, the slime trails. X_X 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted August 19, 2008 I've little time for quick'n'dirty conversions like uac_dea2.wad. There's a mapinfo patch for ZDoom with Ultimate Doom that fixes the Red Key room problem. 0 Share this post Link to post
Captain Toenail Posted August 19, 2008 Thanks, that's the wad! That's perfect, I also have good memories of COMCON2.wad and KHORNE.wad, I recommend you play them. The latter is the first map of a megawad in progress states the author in the readme file, did he ever finish it? 0 Share this post Link to post

It also made an appearance in the WADPAK4 collection... which also got converted to Doom II for the Maximum Doom collection. Heh. 0 Share this post Link to post
